Definitely TNG. Star Trek had some really good episodes, and I was actually very partial to Voyager. Never got into DS9 and sure as hell never Enterprise.

I didn't like the premise. Even though it's "set in the future," the show went backwards in time. If anything, I'd have loved to see a Star Trek say based in the 29th century, e.g.
Lancaster.

Babylon 5 won my heart, I liked Star Trek but somehow it seemed inferior to B5.

Anyway, I don't know if I even need to say Next Gen; seems like that's the default assumption.

I love DS9. The characters and narrative were the best in Star Trek history. TNG is a distant 2nd (but still great). Voyager became grating, and ENT made me squeamish from the outset. I have no relationship with TOS aside from the films. I'm 30 and became addicted to Trek in middle school. Thank you, UPN!

DS9 is my favourite, ive always liked the plot and characters a lot more, especially in the later seasons when the Dominion really step up their invasion of the Alpha and Beta Quadrants. Im currently watching through it again, on the sixth season. TNG would be my second favourite, its a solid show overall though some episodes just annoyed me for some reason.

Voyager i was alright with, liked some episodes but did not really watch it that often and not in awhile. Never watched TOS or the animated one. Enterprise im alright with, i have not watched all of it, only a few episodes across the seasons but for the most part i liked it.

DS9 is definitely my favorite. Though, The Next Generation was pretty good, too; Enterprise was okay.......if could have done better without some things, especially all of the "to be continued" episodes in the third season. The original Star Trek is still one of my favorites though, I guess it's just the conception that it was the first to come out and the first I'd ever watched. DS9 and the original are close together.....

DS9, in my opinion, was an entirely different show to the rest of Star Trek. Undoubtedly, it was an excellent series, but the general feel of it meant that there was only really a contextual link to the rest of the Star Trek universe.

So, my order:

TNG
DS9

TOS
VOY
ENT
Call me what you will. Some people prefer 'Idiot'

Libertarian -2.67

TOS: Looks a bit cheap and dated (understandably so), I always found the plots to be a bit boring.
TNG: My favourite. Patrick Stewart is brilliant along with the rest of the cast and the plot-lines always seem to be interesting.
DS9: Too much like a soap for me.
VOY: I enjoyed Voyager quite a bit, but a lot of the plots were weak and didn't make sense.
ENT: Just... no.

I TOS is the Star Trek I grew up on (I'm only 16, but I first started watching TOS when I was 10-11), so that is my favorite.

Yes I always thought that Babylon 5 was much better than any of the Star Trek series.

Of the Star Trek series I enjoyed the original the most, it probably helped that I was watching it when it was first shown, it had a much greater cultural impact than any of the subsequent ones.

The big criticism I hear is just a massive change in tone; a lot more focus on action and character drama rather than the technical and philosophical quandaries the various Star Trek series had been so well established upon. In a world of CGI, those latter themes just don't pull the same audiences they used to; emphasis has deviated away from scripting and more toward casting and computerized graphics.

For what it was supposed to be: a fast-paced, Battlestar Galactica-style version of Star Trek, I actually thought it was pretty adequate. TNG takes the cake for me as well, though.

This pretty much covers everything I wanted to say in this thread.
Sooner or later OP might have to update this poll with a new option, though. This show is going to be so bad it's good.

I liked DS9 but only because it seemed to me to have more ship battles (not sure) and that was something I really looked forward to when I watched Star Trek.

Star Trek: Captain Worf? What? Why?

Anyway, my favourite is TOS. Because it's just too good. Gotta love cones of liquid neutronium, right?

I understand that TOS is responsible for the entire legacy, but:
1) I hate Shatner's acting
2) Visual effects were so silly for TOS (flimsy nacelle pylons, male Vulcans wearing more makeup than a Kardashian, the generally flat lighting)
3) TNG is more contemporary, making easier to enjoy TNG, while TOS is really the old crazy uncle that everyone outwardly respects but secretly laughs at.
4) Picard actually listens to Starfleet regulations from time to time.
5) Picard has great monologues while Shatner has a speech impediment.
6) It's a f**king Galaxy-class starship!
7) TNG actually ponders over the morality of the decisions involved, whereas TOS often goes "fuck it, fire torpedoes!"
I want to improve.
