You get the picture.

Anyway got an idea for a new unit thingy that related to that sector/fiction project of mine.

The Marauder Sentinel.

Variant of the Navy's Marauder Bomber, basically a gunship with heavy bolters in all the turrets to add more defensive firepower to aerial formations when fighter cover is limited. It's bombload has been removed in favour of extra ammo and extra radar systems and fire control.

I like the idea, more of an air-superiority command gunship?

I'd enjoy a sort of gunship with a circular heavy cannon (maybe have its strafe be a circle, and use some Lascannons and maybe a basilisk cannon

Really an airborne version of an Anti-AIr escort for bombers, etc.

You've got the Vulture gunship but that's for ground support, likewise the Marauder normally carries a nose mounted Lascannon turret and a couple of heavy bolter turrets. The Sentinel I view as a Marauder thats been converted into a defensive support role for other Marauders when there aren't that many fighters to spare for whatever reason.

TBH the tracks need to be extended to run the full length of the body, those side doors need to be removed in favour of a Chimera style hatch at the back and it'll begin to look halfway decent.

Regardless, won't be buying one since it doesn't mesh at all with the theme of my army.

I agree, really.

It's not very pretty, even compared to the Chimera.

Which is kind of ugly...

So, GW kinda came through with one of my dreams of creating a 'stub wagon', a vehicle that had lots of heavy stubbers...in the taurox prime. As one of the rumored guns, the assault cannon looking thing, is supposedly str 4 heavy 10. So lots of dakka...I can dig it.

Only question is is it a transport or not?

It carries a full 10-man squad, so it is probably a dedicated transport.

I wonder if a heavy weapons squad would ever have an assault cannon, or an actual heavy stubber option. Or hell, make it so that you can have a conscript go with no weapons at all, just literal cannon folder. Also it seems like some of these ideas are stemming from Storm of Iron, that was a good novel if I recall.

Genuinely, I've no idea how people like that thing.

It needs a significant conversion job to stop looking like an Ork Trukk.

Forth edition, the conscript unit was 20-50 models, although you could give them some special weapons.

Proper fucking cannon fodder.

Or something like that.

I dislike the tracks, but they aren't horrible. The Taurox is very...blunt looking. Its ugly, blunt, and not a very elegant looking vehicle, which to me fits the 40k theme, especially for the IoM.

Nah, it's got a Utilitarian feel to it.

Actually, now that I think about it, the Lord of Skulls analogy is off. Then again it's, not, because if the LoS can be fixed by putting Knight legs on it, why not do the same with the Taurox?

Warhammer Historical, the game so old it must not be named had literal cannon fodder. The Mongols could take "Human Shields" for 2 points each (WS 2, S 2 unarmed humans) in massive numbers and use them to soak up damage.

Given this was in a game very similar to Warhammer Fantasy and the Mongols were cavalry-heavy, this was amazing.
