Does the Alpha Legion still have its confusing "we're Chaos, but not really" fluff?

Boob armor is stupid.
In other news, I got my Mark 1 minis in the other day. I don't have any pictures on hand but I think they're pretty great. Now I just have to decide how to paint them.

They do have a new book coming out where they face off against the Sisters of Battle. I think it's post-Indomitus Crusade as well.

I imagine that boob armour is a way to make armoured female figurines obviously female, especially back in the 90s and earlier since a lot of wargaming models (especially warhammer) from that era are fairly simplistic and don't have much detail. Since boob plate is a fairly basic addition it's an easy way to differentiate between male and female armoured models.
Modern boob plate is probably a carryover from this simpler time.
Of course there is also the fact that men and boys make up a majority of the hobby and (probably, not entirely sure) the industry itself, and this demographic might be more likely to buy these models if they are sexually suggestive. Not that this is necessarily the case of course, but the whole "sex sells" thing is a thing especially amongst young male teens in the full grip of puberty with hormones going into overdrive.

"Why is self-control, autonomy, such a threat to authority? Because the person who controls himself, who is his own master, has no need for an authority to be his master. This, then, renders authority unemployed. What is he to do if he cannot control others? To be sure, he could mind his own business. But that is a fatuous answer, for those who are satisfied to mind their own business do not aspire to become authorities." ~ Thomas SzaszThe Empire of Pretantia wrote:[...] TLDR; welcome to the internet. Lazy design trapped in tradition, plus skin sells?
I do like the idea behind the SoB, but I agree that boob cup armor is a stupid design. My only complaints about the Grishnakh alternative models ar ethe heads and the boob armor, both of which are even worse than GW's metal minis. Everything else is pretty decent about them though, all things considered. They're less stripperiffic than the "Toughest Girls in the Galaxy" line, or whatever it was called.

Honestly I just be one of the few people who like boob armour. It just seems very unpopular overall.

For SoB it works. Their whole existence is conditional on a loop hole since Eclesiarchy is forbidden from keeping men under arms. Empahasizing that they're technically not makes sense, and 40k is advanced enough that any structural issues (namely, that boob plate is pretty much more likely to kill it's wearer than save them) can be handwaved away.

What greater glory is there than to die for the Imperium, so that others can take your place in order to do the same?

Equally your equipment is amongare one ofthe emperor's most valuable resources and it is a great sin to waste the glorious imperator's precious resources... So make sure to die in a place where the equipment is easily recoverable.
