give every man a cheap disposable rocket launcher and throw them in a cheap disposable transport

It's stupidly impractical, a waste of resources (trained tank crews), and completely absurd.

In other words, incredibly Imperial.

I'm now convinced this actually happens somewhere.

Pretty sure they do, given all the drills and discipline of the Guard. And how there's a lot of examples of soldiers that survive for years.

It's not effective training given how most Guardsmen end up, but they need to have at least a basic grip on things like how to shoot somewhat straight, or how to operate the tank to be at least somewhat likely to shoot at enemies and not run their own men over (or not that many of them, at least).

I was thinking more things like sights or instruments being damaged or destroyed in battle.

I mean, the average schmuck guard vehicle operator probably might know how to patch an electrical cable or something, but repairing a delicate and complex instrument used for sighting or something?
