I know it's to make him more human but I kinda liked it when the only reason he still lives and fights on his is unbreakable will and his love for the Imperium and it's people.

Hey, he does love the Imperium's people!

Especially ones called Merity Chass. ;)

Oooh, it's the guy from the Man in the Highcastle. Great series to complement a good book. Hopefully that cred works its magic to make this something worthwhile.

Only a matter of time now before Disney announces the production of a movie adaptation.

Which... actually means that Guardsman is born in exactly the right time to be exploring the galaxy.

He is just choosing to fight and die for the Emperor instead. Which is of course the correct choice for any loyal servant of the Imperium.

Any true citizen of the Imperium would happily volunteer for the Imperial Guard and use his or her body as a meat shield to be shredded apart by hostile xenos warmachines.

I'd rather volunteer to shred hordes of Guardsmen apart with hostile Xenos war machines.

Speaking of only a matter of time; after 5 years, we are now on page 499. Who's going to be OPing the new thread? How are we going to organise this transition?

The Emperor provides.

Clearly a job for Arch-Magos Belisarius Cawl.

Undoubtedly he has the skills to do the job, and do it well.

If Gaunt's ghosts do actually come out what actor do you think should play Gaunt? I think Craig.

This thought had also crossed my mind, though I hope they keep Abnett on board for either.

Though with the Ghosts, I can see each story arc forming a season.

I'd say Sean Bean but he might be a tad too old at that point. I can also see Josh Brolin:

He gets the "rugged badass with some hidden fatherly qualities" look just right I'd say.

I also just discovered that Gaunt is blonde in some illustrations and dark-haired in others. Not sure how his complexion is described in the books.

Also, we want Gaunt to live. And Sean Bean characters aren't known for that.

Gaunt's inspiration Richard Sharpe did live though. Such a badass that not even being played by Sean Bean could kill him.

After over five years, the thread's about to come to the 500 page limit! Anyone volunteer to make the next one, or shall I just post it when we reach page 500?

We could fill the first ten pages about the new contrast paints. Ameriganistan apparently was already planning to launch a new one once this one is fully filled.

You can apparently save a bit of money by substituting the official Games Workshop spray can of white or light grey primer necessary for the contrast paints to work with a significantly more affordable rattlecan from the DIY or discount store.

Halfords car primer used to be the rattle can of choice for undercoating back in the day when we had a choice of white or black spray undercoat.
