It's centered around the Rostav system, which generally is based off Russia and Eastern Europe in general (how original!). The main planet has a more industrial Soviet aesthetic and theme rather than the more Cossack-like Vostroyans or the criminally underdeveloped Valhallans. Its home to the Rostavan Riflemen Regiments of the Imperial Guard, which again differ from the Vostroyans and Valhallans in that they are more akin to the Cold War Soviet Army (massed mechanised and armoured formations), and that they are specialised in fighting Tau (so a Cold War Soviets vs NATO analogy of shorts). The system also houses the Ursine Hunters Chapter, who are more or less reasonable marines with an Eastern European twist, mostly in regards to names (basically the VDV to the Rostavan Riflemen's Soviet Army).

Here are the two very WIP (and equally poorly written) entries i've done so far:

I'd love some feedback! :D

It's a fun bit of homebrew you gave there. Any intentions of making a minis army with this?

Thanks! Sadly enough i've never played the tabletop or collected any minis for a number of reasons. But if i ever start collecting i might actually do that.

Hey dumb question but if I ever do get into 40k TT I'll probably get some of those new chaos marines first. I plan on playing World Eaters so is it ok to just "paint" those chaos marines red and gold or should i get specific World Eater models

I don't think the World Eaters have a specific model set.

For Chaos Marines? That's not only fine, that's precisely what you're meant to do. World Eaters are one of the Legions that are covered by the CSM Codex.

For Berzerkers, you'll want either Berzerkers, or something to make those CSM look more Berzerker-y.

Funnily enough ive run a similar RP myself in the past, but with all factions and spread across an entire system. Unfortunately i didnt really organise it in the best of ways and it got too clusterfucky for me to manage.

Said RP viewtopic.php?f=31&t=402713

And the ooc thread viewtopic.php?f=31&t=402402

Looking at doing a RAF Regiment/Aussie Airfield Defence Guards based army, though probably a solely fluff one at the moment.

Mulling over what ranks to actually use since technically it would be a Naval Security Battalion and fall under the Imperial Navy's control. Thinking maybe something based upon the Royal Air Force, which seems to be the basis for air ranks used by the Imperial Navy in various 40K works.

Officer Ranks

Air Marshal
Air Vice Marshal
Air Commodore
Wing Captain
Wing Commander
Squadron Leader
Flight Lieutenant
Flight Officer

Enlisted Ranks

Warrant Officer
Flight Sergeant
Sergeant
Corporal
Lance Corporal
Gunner

You not read Gaunt's Ghosts?

Either way, Lexicanum has you covered.

I wonder what happened to the traitor legion loyalists after the Scouring. I know some of them were formed into "Independent Companies" one of which was led by a Death Guard Istvaan III survivor. Did they just keep fighting until they died with no new recruits or build chapters along with the loyalist legions?

Some of them were probably merged into the loyalist legions or something.

1d4Chan has a page on what might have happened.

I haven't, no! But yeah, reading up is easy enough.

Finally learned what that one badass song from Ultimate Apocalypse was. Thought it was the Guard's song because BY THE EMPEROR THIS SONG HAS BALLS.
Makes me want to join the guard and... (remembers what the Imperium typically fights) Welp, I best be off to the factorum.

If we are still picking Marine chapters/legions, I'll drop mine in.
Pre-Heresy: Emperor's Children, Dark Angels
Heresy Loyalists: Blood Angels, Ultramarines
Heresy Traitors: Thousand Sons, Word Bearers
40k: Carcharodon Astra, Flesh Tearers

I like the Space Wolves in the Lone Wolves comic/graphic novel.

Other than that, none of the legions/chapters really stand out to me.
