Both the hatred of Abaddon and the disdain for 4chan is incredibly overblown here.

Abaddon really only lost the black crusades because of plot to pad out the 10k years since the Horus Heresy. And each time he launched a crusade he did a serious fucking number on the Imperium and a lot of worlds still fell to the forces of chaos.

It wasnt just a case of "lol abaddon lost" it was more of a case of "Oh jesus, quick get the tanks, what do you mean we dont have any tanks? Throw the zooms at them, get the ice cream truck, throw the ice cream at them, throw the pots and pans, fuck off ya bastards!"

Yeah, Necrons are nails. Best of luck. I'd fight literally almost any enemy over the Necrons.

As someone with autism I would have ended the Horus Heresy before the Great Crusade even got into full swing.

This. The scars of the Gothic Sector are a testament to how brutal a Black Crusade is even without an invasion.

He's still a failure though. The literal point of every Black Crusade was to create his coveted Crimson Path to Holy Terra, which would first require the conquest of Cadia. His other victories are utterly irrelevant because he has failed TWELVE TIMES to achieve the single-most important objective in order to put his plan into motion. Generally those who fail to achieve their stated goals are often considered failures; which is exactly what Abaddon is. The current Black Crusade is at this moment little more than a Pyrrhic victory, as Cadia was a strategic planet and it's absence is as much as hindrance for both sides as it is a benefit for Chaos. Dude has had the full disposal of the Forces of Chaos and the blessing of all four Chaos Gods and still couldn't take Cadia. What else does this say other than that he's either incredibly incompetent or Chaos is much weaker than most people give them credit for? Any other commander would have been sacked after twelve failed attempts to take a single planet.

Whether GW intended for him to a be a loser or not is irrelevant; they made him one by default. Don't blame me for shoddy writing.

What has Abaddon been doing now that the settings moved forwards several centuries, is he planning a Fourteenth Black Crusade, or is anything that happens now considered a continuation of the Thirteenth?

Abaddon’ll be planning a 65th Black Crusade for the next generation of fans, just watch.

Not every crusade was directed primarily at Cadia though, the Gothic Crusade is a good example of this considering the Gothic Sector is far to the north east of Cadia. The 10th Black Crusade pretty much focused on the Iron Hands entirely so that the Chaos fleets could bypass Cadia (and took place on the other side of the eye of terror). And he didnt have the backing of all chaos forces or chaos gods for each crusade though, he had them for the 13th but not for all the ones before hand and had to get them on his side.

And in each crusade achieved some of the primary objectives of those crusades despite losing the tactical side of things or eventually withdrawing. In the Gothic War he got two Blackstone Fortresses, the 8th crusade he got Tzeentchs favour, in the 7th he got Blood Angels gene seed to create more space marines etc

Literally every Black Crusade paved the way for the destruction of Cadia and, of similar import, the creation of the Great Rift. Capturing a Blackstone Fortress, destroying those mysterious Necron pylons on other worlds, and so forth.

Twelve times he achieved his strategic goals that paved the way for his success in the Thirteenth Black Crusade.

Calling it little more than a pyrrhic victory is misunderstanding just how much the Great Rift is doing. The Imperium is cut off in many places, communication is hard, the Astronomican's light has died in plenty of places. People of countless worlds grow mad just by the presence of the Great Rift in the sky. Chaos is ascendant throughout the Imperium, and countless worlds are under siege with no hope of any sort of Imperial reinforcements whatsoever exactly because of Abaddon's actions.

People give him far less credit than he deserves - the fall of Cadia and the creation of the Great Rift following it is absolutely far more important than people seem to think.

Necrons are fucking awesome. Too bad there isn't much I've found on them other than the war in heaven because even without flayers they are terrifying. It's hard to describe how cool I think they are but for one even the slow somewhat unfun to play Necrons in Dawn of War are still fucking awesome.

Their intro cinematic in BFG II was pretty damn cool, some of their ships are awesome looking.

Also yeah they are fucking terrifying.
