Abaddon failed to conquer a single planet 13 times and ended up throwing a temper tantrum that then blew it up. 4chan could have conquered it the first time using the power of "weaponized autism".
Never underestimate the hacker known as 4chan.

Abolitionism in the North has leagued itself with Radical Democracy, and so the Slave Power was forced to ally itself with the Money Power; that is the great fact of the age.

He's still a failure though. The literal point of every Black Crusade was to create his coveted Crimson Path to Holy Terra, which would first require the conquest of Cadia. His other victories are utterly irrelevant because he has failed TWELVE TIMES to achieve the single-most important objective in order to put his plan into motion. Generally those who fail to achieve their stated goals are often considered failures; which is exactly what Abaddon is. The current Black Crusade is at this moment little more than a Pyrrhic victory, as Cadia was a strategic planet and it's absence is as much as hindrance for both sides as it is a benefit for Chaos. Dude has had the full disposal of the Forces of Chaos and the blessing of all four Chaos Gods and still couldn't take Cadia. What else does this say other than that he's either incredibly incompetent or Chaos is much weaker than most people give them credit for? Any other commander would have been sacked after twelve failed attempts to take a single planet.
Whether GW intended for him to a be a loser or not is irrelevant; they made him one by default. Don't blame me for shoddy writing.

Literally every Black Crusade paved the way for the destruction of Cadia and, of similar import, the creation of the Great Rift. Capturing a Blackstone Fortress, destroying those mysterious Necron pylons on other worlds, and so forth.
Twelve times he achieved his strategic goals that paved the way for his success in the Thirteenth Black Crusade.
Calling it little more than a pyrrhic victory is misunderstanding just how much the Great Rift is doing. The Imperium is cut off in many places, communication is hard, the Astronomican's light has died in plenty of places. People of countless worlds grow mad just by the presence of the Great Rift in the sky. Chaos is ascendant throughout the Imperium, and countless worlds are under siege with no hope of any sort of Imperial reinforcements whatsoever exactly because of Abaddon's actions.
People give him far less credit than he deserves - the fall of Cadia and the creation of the Great Rift following it is absolutely far more important than people seem to think.

Yeah, Necrons are nails. Best of luck. I'd fight literally almost any enemy over the Necrons.
