Biggle's Insane Theory: 3rd Edition

So I've taken the info and changed the theory again.

Venture basically had an industry/business and was pretty good with it, and his chapters, the Aspirers, followed suit. But then Chaos did its thing, and Venture became more ruthless for profit. Eventually, he would harbor extremely corrupt practices like slavery, extreme pollution, and profiting off of the suffering of others. Some of Venture's men were disgusted at these practices and converted to the Ultramarines, but some stayed true to their Primarch's disgusting cause. Eventually, Emps confronted Venture in combat and slayed him, scattering Venture's marines deep into the Eye of Terror. There they set up a small industrial empire which still manufactures guns, tanks, vehicles, and other heavy equipment for the Chaos Space Marine Legions. They will do any order, as long as it has a suitable price and profit.

While i believe that the Emperor probably helped on making Communism, this theory as been already debunked.

Here's a thought that I would find intriguing in regards to the Lost Legions: The story of how pretty much every Traitor Legion turned against the Imperium involves a highly personal flaw and/or trauma on the part of the respective Primarch, which grows and escalates over time and eventually drives him into full-on treason, with the rest of his legion simply following his lead, (with a couple of exceptions like Garro).
However, what if, in the case of the 2nd or the 11th, it wasn't the Primarch who fell but his Legion instead? Say, at some point between the departure of the Great Crusade from Terra and the rediscovery of the 2nd Primarch, the 2nd Legion is corrupted/infested/befallen by...something, and it grows and rots in secret with only the Legion Marines themselves (or maybe only the higher officers) being aware of it. The Primarch is found, re-unites with the Great Crusade and is uber-happy to lead humanity into a new Golden Age at his father's side. However, the relation between him and his children is rocky from the start, not helped by the fact that because of some genetic complication it is not possible to recruit the followers/subjects he no doubt gathered on his homeworld into his Legion, so he has to leave them all behind. Even tough he is a loyal champion of the Emperor and a true friend to some of his fellow Primarchs, he becomes more and more alienated from his own Legion and basically feels like a stranger to his own children. Eventually, an attempt is made by his corrupted Marines to recruit him into the cause, but of course, he reacts with complete horror. Trying to escape from his capital ship/fortress/headquarters/whatever to warn the Emperor he makes a desperate one man stand against his corrupted children and even though he kills many Marines he is eventually brought down and butchered (his corrupted/infested legion then proceeds to do all sorts of sick shit like feasting on his corpse and the like). The atrocity is discovered shortly thereafter however, and a horrified and enraged Emperor orders his other Legions to wipe out the 2nd Legion to the last man, and all information about them erased from Imperial records. All of this of course happens before the Horus Heresy.

The biggest problem with this is that it's mentioned several times that it was the Primarchs who failed their legions, not the other way around. Plus it's kinda hard to believe an entire legion not fangirling over their Primarch

Sure, with the legions that we know of that is the case; in my scenario, the very incident of a Space Marine Legion turning on and murdering their own Primarch was what made it so uniquely shocking, even compared to the Traitor Legions, that the Emperor though it best to erase all their traces from history.
Keep in mind that the Legion in question was already irreversibly affected by the corrupting influence of doom (doesn't have to be Chaos, in fact it's probably more intriguing if it isn't Chaos for a change) and hence "lost" to the Emperor's light before they met their Primarch.

To be honest, I think the Emperor's reaction to all this would be slightly raising his eyebrow while going "...so?", followed by "Does he still accomplish his campaign targets on schedule? Good.", and then going back to do Golden Throne stuff.

Okay, now for the plotholes:

1. They were legions, not chapters.Chapters didn't become a thing until after the Horus Heresy.

2. The Emperor wouldn't give a fuck about any of that, at least not enough to erase an entire legion's existence from history. For a tyrant, he was surprisingly lenient on a lot of stuff.

3. Astartes abandoning their Primarch is incredibly rare.

4. You don't just 'convert' to another legion/chapter, that's not how it works. If they really did abandon their Primarch (which again is highly unlikely) then they would have founded their own legion/chapter.

5. They couldn't have turned to Chaos because literally nobody knew about Chaos save for a very select few, and on the rare occasion that Astartes encountered Chaos they had no idea what they were fighting. Chaos was almost completely unknown prior to the Horus Heresy.

Honestly your capitalist Astartes just sound like an army of Bad Moon Meks but with a Space Marine paint.

No, it's the same with the Lost Legions. The Lost Primarchs are also mentioned as having failed their legions, just like the Traitor Primarchs.

It's an interesting idea - Space Marines turning on their own Primarch - but the closest we've got to that is the Death Guard, and at most that's probably just half of them. Astartes usually love their Primarch more than they love Emperor himself, hence why the Horus Heresy even happened to begin with. Thus it's a bit of a far-fetched theory. I mean, these guys were brought up on this mission to find their missing Primarch to the point of fanaticism. It'd be their equivalent to awaiting a prophesied messiah.

My mistake. I always thought this was a pickelhaube, but it's apparently a bayonet. The angle it's at makes it look like it's on the helmet.

Good sir, I won't accept such defaitism in this thread. It is true that a greater effort has to be made in order to make the magic happen, but it can be done if all parties involved are ready and willing. Just close your eyes and think of the Emperor.
