I'm thinking of scaling up to an 80mm or 90mm base from the 60mm it comes with, and perhaps putting the front torso of a Redemptor dreadnought on the base for him to have one foot on. Or I could have a half-buried Knight shoulderpad and chainblade. they'd both set me back about the same (getting the Knight bits from Ebay or the Easy to Build Redemptor). Anyone got better ideas?

Can you cobble something together from any spare orky things you have? Maybe make it look like part of an ork tank/truck or something buried way down in the mud. Or part of a fortification.

Or let said Ork Warboss stand around in a lovely garden with rose bushes and an immaculate lawn. Maybe a plastic pink flamingo as well, just because you can. That'll confuse your opponents!

I was thinking more of a big enemy thing that he'd pose on to show off his power

Ah fair enough then, if you feel getting the dreadnought or the knight would do best then go for it.

I'd probably lean more to the nought, i like them more personally.

I think once ive moved house and i have more room with the cabin set up, i might get a set of primaris marines. Not sure which chapter i would make them apart of though, Might make them imperial fists if i do get them.

I love their fluff, and how underused they are. Their paint scheme leaves a little to be desired though; there are some swell successor chapters I’ve seen done up, though.

I was looking for primaris space marine only chapters for possible scheme ideas if i do get some later down the line), and i found one that has its lineage from the Imperial Fists called the Sons of the Phoenix, but the colour scheme is not my cup of tea.

But the Knights of the Chalice (Blood Angels) and Blades of Vengeance (Dark Angels) are cool looking:

So maybe ill base the marines around them, or ill just go straight up Imperial Fists.

Hah, and I thought my loyalist Emperor's Children Successor custom chapter the "Silver Palatines" was obvious.

A quick check of their successor chapters (On a side-note, Blood Angel successor chapters love having 'Angel' in their name) says it was the Knights of Blood who were wiped out at Baal.

That sucks for anyone who collects them. Glad to hear it wasn't the Lamenters though, I love those poor unlucky souls.

EDIT: But then as I recall the Lamenters were so unlucky they weren't even able to make it to the battle for Baal, unless that's been retconned.

I doubt they were very in demand. Aside from the Baal fight, I can barely find any mention of them. They got a mention in the Blood Angels 5th edition codex, then 8th, and that's it.

They had a pretty cool colour scheme though, and their renegade-but-still-loyal status was fun. At least they went out like badasses.

Anyone here have a custom Space Marine Chapter?

I've got a main one, the Scribes of Oblivion, but I'm so addicted to character creation I once accidentally invented 40-odd Chapters in an afternoon, complete with badges and backstories:

Image

I came up with the idea of going through all my old metal Marine miniatures and converting and painting them up as the Chapter Masters of all those chapters. So far I've finished the Dark Hunters, Dawn Knights, Dogs of War, Granite Knights, Heart Rippers, Order of Remembrance, Silver Palatines, Singularity Wardens, Star Paladins, Steel Fists, Sun Lords, Tectonic Fists and Void Eyes if anyone is interested in seeing them.

The story behind their name was that I came up with the idea that they were a group of chapters dedicated to making sure the Ruinstorm never happens again. Needless to say, I came up with it before 8th edition 40k... when the Ruinstorm happened again.

I do, the Beholders. My main 40k army. I haven't got much concrete background on them, because I'm too indesicive. Pretty much only thing I've nailed down is that they have traitor geneseed. I'm torn up on whose it actually is though - the four main contenders are Sons of Horus (the first idea, one of my favourite traitor legions and one I'm pretty sure there isn't a chapter for but it's also the hardest to justify), Emperor's Children (one of my favourite traitor legions, but there is already Red Scorpions), Iron Warriors (again one of my favourite traitor legions, but there is already Silver Skulls) and finally Deathguard (my colour scheme is - accidentally - almost identical to their pre-heresy colours, but there is already Sons of Antaeus). I'm also stuck on their origins. I originally intended them to be a cursed founding chapter, but since it's an Oldhammer army and GW has recently went with the RT=pre-heresy aproach I was also thinking of making them descendant of a pre-heresy company/chapter/supply convoy/etc. that hot lost in the warp and popped back into realspace several thousand years after they left. That would explain all the older equipment they have.

A few, the main one would be the Emperors Fury. Iron Warriors who went Blackshield during the Heresy and stayed loyal and were eventually allowed to become a chapter after the whole thing by Bobby G. In stark contrast to their legion they have an extremely strong brotherhood and all that jazz. They also have lots of Great Crusade and Heresy era equipment because god damn I love me some technology. Also dreadnoughts. I could go a whole ton more in depth but I don't wanna write out a small book on them right now :p

I've also started working on a custom Second Legion and Primarch, the Judicators. I don't have a whole ton on them yet but I wanna buy up some Mark 2 and 3 minis soon to test out color schemes.

Two.

Hah, beakies on dinosaurs, that's awesome :D

Dark Hunters: Night Lords successors, who still use similar tactics to their predecessors but at least have more easily camouflaged armour. The power weapon scheme came from a failed non-metallic metal experiment I'd done on some dwarves.
Image
Image
Image
Image

The Dawn Knights: Blood Angels successors who like to bro it up with Imperial Knight houses. (sorry about the face, the paint stripper didn't work so well so when I repainted him his face turned out a bit... malformed.) This is what started it really, as I painted one of these for a GW painting challenge (45 minutes speedpainting and you could only use 5 paints picked at random, fortunately I got a white primed miniature and yellow glaze. I designed the badge over the store's lunch break and painted it on when the challenge resumed, haha.
Image
Image
Image
Image

The Dogs of War, World Eaters successors who are kind of fanatic, get along with the Black Templars, and have a Chaplain as their Chapter Master.
Image
Image
Image
Image

the Granite Knights, Dark Angels successors who have rough grey skin from a geneseed mutation, and really like overkill, especially if explosives are involved. I wanted to try out brown as an armour tone, to see if it'd look ok.
Image
Image
Image
Image

The Heart Rippers, a definitely-not-Alpha Legion successor with totally not forged documents from Guilliman proving it. They specialise in hunting Dark Eldar.
Image
Image
Image
Image
Image

The Order of Remembrance, Dark Angels successors with strong ties to Mars, which on the surface the Dark Angels despise them for, but secretly ordered them to do. (Also, their name is a pun off "Remember the Fallen" since, y'know, Dark Angels)
Image
Image
Image
Image

The Silver Palatines, Emperor's Children successors who just love Aquilas. They want all the Aquilas. (I used the old Games Day model because the damn thing has 4 Aquilas on it, breastplate shoulder and 2 on the hammer, and then I added another one on the backpack)
Image
Image
Image
Image
Image

The Singularity Wardens, Ultramarines successors who guard the region of space around a Black Hole and repel the horrible things that dwell in its event horizon.
Image
Image
Image
Image

The Star Paladins, Ultramarine successors and totally Mary Sue marines who never lose a battle, and whose chapter master never loses a duel. In my version of 40k, they end up getting wiped out by my Chaos Primaris Warband who out-perfect them.
Image
Image
Image
Image

The Steel Fists, chimeric Iron Hands/Imperial Fists successors who still have the Hand's issue with bionics but are far more disciplined about it. I wanted to try out an autumn base, and ended up using all of my leftover brass leaves.
Image
Image
Image
Image

the Sun Lords, chimeric Thousand Son/Night Lords successors who've got a very high rate of Psykers but have managed to balance it. Probably the best face I've done.
Image
Image
Image
Image

The Tectonic Fists, an Imperial Fists successor created out of an attempt to restore their lacking gene-seed organs. They really hate Tyranids.
Image
Image
Image
Image

The Void Eyes, Raven Guard successors with a high rate of psykers, some of whom have inherited Corax's invisibility trick, and still use Moritats from the old Legion days. (As for why his face is so messed up... I had a Gall Stone attack while painting him, and tried to keep going for a while. Bad idea.)
Image
Image
Image
Image

And finally the chapter I'm collecting, the Scribes of Oblivion, who I've written so much about that there really isn't room for it here (this is already a ridiculously long post) but who basically are devoted to erasing the Word Bearers and all their works from existence and history. They also specialise in void combat.

...That is actually really close to the idea that inspired me to make my Scribes of Oblivion - I was reading the Soul Hunter books and noticed that the Night Lords in it had jumped 10,000 years forward in time, so I thought "what if that happened accidentally to a group from a pre-heresy legion, what would be the most interesting legion to go with and when would be the most interesting time for them to have left?" I ended up going with Word Bearers, and immediately after the Monarchia incident. They are imprisoned by the Ultramarines until a council decides their fate, and they are eventually allowed to form a chapter but under constant surveillance by 3 Inquisitor Lords (who are also watching each other) and Chaplains sent from other chapters, as they are no longer allowed to have their own. They also use entirely pre-heresy equipment.
