Most of those things are more like the Battle Armors and ProtoMechs in the BattleTech universe. When you want to have something resembling a BattleMech, you should look at Knights, Warhound Scout Titans, Stompa's and Supa-Stompa's.

At this point, we've pretty much proven that not only can evolution happen, it pretty much must happen since it's basically impossible to prevent it from happening.

Anything above a warhound titan is too big for Mechwarrior.

Nah, I'd say Knights still fall in assault mech category. Hell, maybe even heavy mech.
Do keep in mind a hundred-ton mech isn't actually 100 tons. If it was, then it would be as dense as plastic. For reference, the Maus tank is 188 tonnes, or 207 short tons, and it's not twice the size of an assault mech.

The WH40K Epic miniatures of Knights were about as big as BattleMech miniatures, actually.
"Why is self-control, autonomy, such a threat to authority? Because the person who controls himself, who is his own master, has no need for an authority to be his master. This, then, renders authority unemployed. What is he to do if he cannot control others? To be sure, he could mind his own business. But that is a fatuous answer, for those who are satisfied to mind their own business do not aspire to become authorities." ~ Thomas SzaszThe Empire of Pretantia wrote:[...] TLDR; welcome to the internet. "Those who reached my boundary, their seed is not; their hearts and their souls are finished forever and ever. As for those who had assembled before them on the sea, the full flame was their front before the harbour mouths, and a wall of metal upon the shore surrounded them. They were dragged, overturned, and laid low upon the beach; slain and made heaps from stern to bow of their galleys, while all their things were cast upon the water." - Ramesses III., Battle of the Delta

I'm working on some Dark Angel loyalists during the whole affair on Caliban. Those specifically so I can paint some green patches on that black armor to make things stand out a bit more.

How to run it? Order them to sprint towards the enemy and let them die gloriously for the Imperium. You know, standard Imperial Guards tactics.
