I disagree wholeheartedly. What's so great about Metro's setting compared to S.T.A.L.K.E.R.?

Well for me personally it is a very interesting and unique setting, yeah we have had irradiated wastelands and stuff before (ala fallout, Stalker etc) which Metro is but it has its own unique spin on it. You have the last bastions of humanity living in the decaying ruins of the Moscow metro, a once safe haven that people hoped would never be needed but was needed and now acts as a tomb basically for the frightened remnants of mankind which has fallen back into its age old rivalry's instead of trying to maintain the place and defend against new threats coming from the surface.

I like the different factions and how the attitudes of these factions is apparent in the different stations. You have the hard-line Stalinist Red Line with "Communist" appearance similar to the old ussr, about the party and old figures such as Marx and Lenin. The Neo-Nazi Reich that mirrors ww2 Germany with its extremist ethnic policies and militant behaviour. Hanza's capitalist and business oriented setup similar to the original trade republics of Hanza, and all the other smaller non aligned stations which each have their own little flavour which really makes them memorable. You have POLIS which is this big metropolis as it were which seems to be the only safe place in the metro, the shady and decrepit stations like Venice and Riga, the merchant stations like Market, the heavily armed border/front-line stations like Exhibition (the station Artyom is from) etc.

Then there is all the supernatural stuff which also add in their own unique sides to the different locations, the likes of the moving anomalies and the ghosts really add in this sense of mystery and danger, which is made even better because they cant be explained. I like how it brings religion into this as well, as the character Khan points out in the first game, that it is as if Heaven, Hell and purgatory themselves were destroyed in the nuclear war, and that if you die you wont go to a new world in an afterlife, you will just be left behind reliving the same moment over and over again for all eternity. It adds in these new atmospheric touches, like how did these soldiers die, what made them make a stand here in this tunnel. Why are all of these ghosts in this side room off of the main tunnel hung from the ceiling. Why are the anomalies around? what makes them move and act the way they do? etc

Dont get me wrong, i really enjoy Stalkers Setting as well, it is one of my favourites, Chernobyl is a very interesting place and i like what they did with it, but i also really enjoy Metro's setting. As Spoder pointed out it is a lot more atmospheric, and now that i think about it. I actually like Metro;s setting more.

Did not realise i made this post so large. Sorry for that.

Valve wants money. This is how they get it.

If they didn't make millions of dollars off of trading cards and item drops, then they'd jack up game prices.

That's not making money. That's manipulating the market of something in hopes of artificially driving up the price.

(Again, going back to the NYSE. This kind of activity would be illegal.)

I used to never see the point or like double monitors. Than I realized how much extra space it would give me for all the windows of the programs I have running in the background while I work on stuff like chats and media players. I plan on a double monitor setup for my next PC.

Seriously if you think that this is unethical, you should see some of the shit that Koch pulls, or Wal-Mart, or even your average restaurant.

Also LOL @ thinking that stock exchanges are even on the same plane as consumer purchases.

I hooked up my TV (17", literally two inches to the right of my monitor) to my computer to see if it would work.
I very quickly understood why people say "Once you go dual monitor you never go back".

I dunno how big these monitors are, but they seem pretty big....

And a restaurant I can think of that has bad business practices is McDonald's. Seriously, they give you a pamphlet on how to get more money, and one of their suggestions is 2 jobs. Instead of, you know, raising their minimum wages...

Most of the actual sit-in restaurants where I live (and, I'm assuming, across the country) pay the wait staff less than minimum wage and then claim that tips are a part of their income. Because that's rarely ever the case, waitresses/waiters often only take the job when literally nobody else will hire them, even places like burger king and wal mart.

The big mistake you have made is that Valve are doing it.

You should have said EA were doing it. I would be willing to bet cash that is EA did something like this, the outrage would be immense.

That's actually fairly easy game to sue them and maybe even put them out of business if they can't afford the case.

No. It's typically just people being idiots and the people they screw lacking the money to hire a lawyer. It's extremely easy to sue a business in the ground for incredibly obvious things they should have seen coming, like a restaurant lacking a ramp for those in wheelchairs.
