For me: It's EA. I know that may seem petty but bear with me. The thing is, I don't trust EA, they have given me no reason to. I am not putting my game library in their hands, because you really have very little in the way of rights regarding that stuff. I am certain they would not hesitate to abuse it for a quick buck. I'm already pretty tied up with steam anyway.

Plus it's more places I have to have a username and password and more places I have to put my bank card details and I just can't be assed with it. Same reason I don't have an amazon account.

This is a really dumb thing to be concerned over. EA may not be a very nice company, and certainly one I don't much like, but this concern is fundamentally dumb. EA is still a company, one that relies on revenue of its products to continue operating, and any abuse large enough to be applicable to an entire games library is essentially trading a large amount of money in the long-term for your "quick buck". The fact that they even bothered with creating and developing a competent steam competitor is itself an indication that they understand this.

The free market fairy is great. But it's not always around. Large companies prefer a bunch of money now to even more in the long term, stockholders are not a single rational mind. Groups of people don't tend to come up with long sighted solutions. That's why the banking collapse happened. It's why a lot of games are released in half finished states.

I'm not saying the necessarily will do anything extreme with it, you're right that they do want to make more money and the long term has some influence plus all I said was "abuse it" I didn't specify anything specific like shutting down my library to make me repurchase things or anything like that. It might be something much more mild. But it's not some "totally won't happen they'll never abuse it because free market", that's not how things work.

Oh, and it's not like I'm missing out on anything by having these apparently irrational fears. If there was any EA game I really wanted that I couldn't get on steam I would at least consider it. But there really isn't.

I don't think the comparison of rushed games to a full-fledged and fully developed digital distribution service is really valid, nor is the comparison of the gaming industry (a relatively large scale, cheap-commodity based industry) to the banking industry (service based). Your little spiel against the free market is kind of amusing too, as I am not entirely sure as to what sent you off on that tangent, unless you think common sense is the same thing as free market policy.

I should mention that, as of right now, Origin is definitely the least "abusive" of the digital distribution services I have used, including Steam. I have heard nothing negative re. mistrustful or abusive policies from the origin service by other users of this service that I know of, and in fact the only thing I have ever heard of them doing that made me even slightly concerned was the use of account bans for forum infractions, which are generally short-term and can be permanently rectified by not going to the EA forums or otherwise not being a dipshit on them. If the criticism of origin starts and ends at 'paranoia fueled rant against EA', then I think that's a fair commendation for the quality of the service.

EA tends to have horrible customer support, but point to a triple A company that doesn't.

The amount of people that don't use the Stoner 63 is surprising, considering I'm generally on the top of the scoreboard (or close to it) with it.

It's good, but M60 Master Race. Seriously, that thing can 2 shot people if you aim right at the collar bone.

True, but dat reload time plus dat fire rate plus dat recoil puts the M60 in a special niche. Great if you can use it, but the Stoner is basically an assault rifle with no damage dropoff (like the AUG-HBAR was in MW2).

Those that know how to aim? :p

Though tbh I am prob the only person I know of that actually used the M60 regularly with success. All of the people I played with regularly were eventually convinced to use it at some point, but didn't like it or couldn't perform with it and eventually tossed it. I loved the thing, though, was one of my favourite weapons in that game.

I like it for AI Survival mods, because the massive ammunition capacity and max ammunition is extremely useful, but in normal TDM matches I find that I do much better with a Stoner ext. mags.

Battlefield 4 is soooo much fun. M416 with G18 for the win.

We should make an NS platoon and squad up sometimes! That is, if anyone else actually plays on PS3. :P

TBH in BO I always fancied weird weapons, what with my favourites being the M60, the G11, and the MPL, with the G11 being another one of those weapons that all of my friends that I played with never really liked. I guess at that point it was possible I simply liked their flavour over any potential decrease in capability. It's not like I needed the standard array of easy to use/abuse weapons. The two people I played with the most had a semi-regular thing in which we all ran suppressed uzis with ACOGs just to fuck with people, after all. Went better than one would think, too.

I have yet to play 4, but in BF3 I would always use glorious semi-automatic carbine of the Simonov pattern, modernised. I would not need such things as scopes, holographic or reflector sights, nor foregrips, bipods or any barrel attachment. With the glorious semi-automatic carbine of the Simonov pattern, modernised, I could fight and win in any battle at any range, using only the iron sights attached to the rifle.

Only other equipment I would need is fragmentation grenade, detached bayonet, and sidearm. Like Chinese infantryman of 1950, I was model, high performing soldier with minimal equipment.

Sony has seen fit to announce their own VR headset, Project Morpheus.

How it matches up to the Oculus Rift remains to be seen. Given that the PS4 has problems rendering 1080p at a high framerate, and high framerate is important in mitigating motion sickness and headaches, it might be of lesser quality.

The Oculus Rift founder himself said that the consoles do not have enough horsepower for the Oculus Rift to work.

Yeah, I'm not getting it, even if I'd be more likely to play it sooner than the Oculus Rift, just because the Oculus Rift is the big huge one now that's getting all the praise and I want to wait for that one if I'm going to buy one at all.

Sony does certainly like copying things once they become a big deal, though. Example being the Playstation Move which looked like a Wii Remote rip-off with an uglier remote.

The G11 is by no means uncommon. If you start to get into the competitive scene (back when competitive BO1 was still a thing), a lot of people run G11s without attachments because if you're good, it can kill faster than any other assault rifle in the game.
