There has been a few really good ones though

My god how do you find so many? Random grabs or what?

I think my thing is I'm still focusing on old stuff, too, and rating things this year. If I was REALLY focusing on the current I could have a higher rating. But I probably never will entirely focus on the now...since I'm always adding new stuff.

Yeah, my backlogs average "age" as in how old the albums are is... 1990 (yes, I actually calculated that  )
There's just too much good stuff done before!

Yeah, mostly just random grabs that look cool to me, but also I listen to all the hyped albums, like the new St. Vincent and Behemoth, neither of which I was particular enamoured by

Oh well, I wasn't too impressed by Evangelion so I'm not hurrying with that.

I haven't really listened to Behemoth other than that Evangelion. And judging by that album, I don't think they're my kind of band. Evangelion had 2 good songs, the rest was more or less boring/bad.

I haven't given out a 10 since 2004.

Seems like I'm a LOT easier to please. Last year when I did NOT give a 10 was... 1973, and even then the highest was 9.7.

I haven't listened to it yet either, but Behemoth's new album The Satanist is getting great reviews. Fantano gave it a 9 I think, and it's the highest-rated metal album of 2014 so far on RYM. I guess I'll need to give it a listen, even though I was never a huge fan of the band's previous work.

My friend has it and I listened to about 3 songs from it(Including Blow Your Trumpets Gabriel). From that, I will say that it fully deserves that rating.
Also, what part of Behemoth's previous work did you not like?

It's not that I dislike them, I just haven't listened to very much. Demigod is the only album by them I've heard in its entirety, and it didn't wow me. Solid stuff, but nothing too memorable either.

I really like Quadrophenia, double album rock opera by The Who. There's some really cool stuff on there.

Post-hardcore has significantly less metal influence than metalcore does. I've always known Converge to play a blend of metalcore and hardcore punk (well, that's a given knowing they pioneered the metalcore genre).

Yeah, judging by my own ears those songs have more HC punk influences than metal influences. Also that album didn't have those clean vocals found on most metalcore songs/albums and those weren't even half as "melodic" as your average metalcore song. So I'm sticking with Post-Hardcore unless someone puts gun against my head and says "they're fucking metalcore!1"

Great album.

Converge is straight-up metalcore. Mathcore and metalcore are usually considered their primary genres.

Post-hardcore is not a term many would use to describe Converge...you may upset some touchy fans if you insist on calling them that.

Since when I cared about other fans
That album isn't that much metalcore as I said before, it's like saying Death Magnetic was thrash metal. Close but pretty far.
I think mathcore would be more appropriate than metalcore, at least when comparing those songs I linked to actual metalcore like [insert mainstream metalcore band here]

I can feel some 90s post hardcore influence in the album, but just as much metalcore and mathcore.
