Does anywhere here enjoy Halloween music when it's not really halloween season? I don't own any halloween albums, but I'd like to. I really enjoy the spooky, scary, creepy, silly and fun nature of these songs. But I guess in a way, everyday is halloween...

I don't listen to Halloween specific music, but I do listen to plenty of dark and creepy music.

Pretty much this. Hell, I even listen to Helloween's song called Halloween all year round whenever I feel like listening to it :p

I struggle to think of music I'd consider specifically related to Halloween, besides the obvious. "Werewolves of London," maybe.

Finished with Vice City's soundtrack:

Radio Station - Score - Favorite Song - Artist

Emotion 98.3 - 8.2/10 - (I Just) Died in Your Arms - Cutting Crew
Fever 105 - 6.8/10 - Shame - Evelyne "Champagne" King
Flash FM - 7.6/10 - Billie Jean - Michael Jackson
Radio Espantoso - 3.6/10 - Super Strut - Deodato
Wave 103 - 7/10 - Love Missile F1-11 - Sigue Sigue Sputnik
Wildstyle - 4.9/10 - ...
V-Rock - 9.4/10 - ...

Can't really pick any favorite for the last two albums/stations. Wildstyle didn't have any that good songs and V-Rock had too many too good songs.

ew that espantoso score

The Breaks by Kurtis Blow was the correct answer for Wildstyle - either that, or The Message by Grandmaster Flash and the Furious Five.

Time for one of my favorite parts of the year: making my top 10 lists. :p

First, my top 10 songs, limiting it to one song per artist. I rated all of these 10/10:

There's probably at least two dozen other songs I could add, but these are the ones that stand out

Not listing my top 10 albums yet, because there's a few more that I need to listen to/haven't been released yet that may beat out some of the ones in my current top 10. What sucks though is that the same thing has happened this year as last year; my top 10 has like, 4 or 5 albums I absolutely love and the rest are good enough to be there but they're albums I'll hardly ever go back to (not because I don't like them, just lack of interest compared to others). :meh:

I know, but nothing else in my backlog looks interesting enough to wait (well, song-wise; the albums as a whole may be worthwhile), so I figured I'd go ahead and make at least one of my lists. I try to get at least a rough list made anyways by Thanksgiving because I'll be too lazy to do it during the holidays. :p

Corrian wrote:My year hasn't been that great yet, either.

Welcome back to civilization. :p

It's not so much that it hasn't been a good year per se (two albums got 5 stars from me; that alone makes this year pretty notable for me), just that aside from the really great standouts, the rest just don't have much replay value.
Or maybe my attention span just sucks... :p

 That actually is pretty good, even though I'm not really a fan of electronic.

I like a lot of 2000s rock and pop-punk music, but I also like stuff from earlier decades and a few from this decade. I also like songs in other genres too. If you wanna try older stuff, I'd reccomend the Stones Paint It Black or maybe Gob's cover and here's some 80s tracks from Transformers: The Movie The Touch and Lion's cover of the theme song

Speaking of Top 10 lists, I'm gonna be doing a top 10 Halloween noughties rock songs. I'll post it here and on my Halloween thread. It would be cool if more people posted there again. :D Think of rock songs from 2000s with dark, creepy, ghoulish and scary themes, or that have an association with horror.

Ten Halloween songs (no order):

1. Michael Jackson - Thriller
2. Danny Elfman - This is Halloween
3. Boris Pickett - Monster Mash
4. The Who - Boris the Spider
5. The Beatles - Blue Jay Way

Can't think of more. And even the last one isn't really associated with Halloween.

None of those songs are from the 2000s, and only the last 2 are really rock songs. I asked Specifically for 2000s rock songs. But I will give you credit where credit is due. This is Halloween and Monster Mash had 2000s rock covers by Marilyn Manson and Zombina and the Skeletones (I kinda prefer those versions to the originals (but I think both of the originals are great)). So switch the originals for those. :) BTW, which 2000s cover of Paint It Black do you think is the most halloweeny? I Can't listen to all of them, unfortunately. Maybe the Astrovamps cover.

Why does it have to be from 2000s? And so what if it's rock music?

The thing about any type of rock music is that it usually has all the characteristics I dislike and misses all the ones I like. It's the complete opposite of my music taste. There is a complete lack of sub-bass in both the drums and the other instruments of every rock song. Although the recording quality is just fine, my brain always thinks that it's horrible, quality-wise. It sounds like a large part of the song is missing.
So, while I do have rock songs I do like, they're rare and don't last long. Usually, combinations of electronic stuff with rock get rid of the sub-bass issue.

'Paint It Black' is a song I've heard many times. It's a classic within my family. I prefer 'Gimme Shelter'. :D
