Yeah I wonder if anyone knew what their albums were going to be like after OK Computer.

I need to listen to that album more. I've enjoyed The Bends and Kid A but I haven't listened to much of the album in between.

Same here :P

And let's not forget their metal equivalent. Both bands started off as rather normal bands for their genre, then started to get more experimental later on.

I have The Bends to thank for getting into Radiohead, although I'd say my personal favourite song by them at the moment is Packt Like Sardines in a Crushd Tin Box - not sure why but it sticks out to me quite a bit.

I've never been able to stay with Rush too long. After awhile, I find that it all starts to sound the same, especially their post-2112 work.

I don’t know if it’s due to casting choice by Arjen in later albums or me not listening to them enough, but I tried to listen to Theory of Everything and and The Source on while I worked and I had really hard time making characters apart.

I wonder what makes some genres/kinds of music feel dated while others do not even though they might be decades/centuries.

Mostly thinking because qualifications for Eurovision s running and some candidates sound like they're from time capsule in bad way. lol

I'd guess that it's because those genres were popular for a short time and then declined in popularity. Listening to them now feels like listening to them when they were popular, because you wouldn't listen to them when they weren't - therefore, they seem dated (ska reminds one of the 90s, for example, because ska hasn't really been a thing since the 90s). In contrast, genres that have been popular continuously for a while don't feel old because the last point at which they were popular was earlier the same day.

I think there should be a major change that sparks a new revolution in Eurovision: Bring K-Pop to the contest. It's a new genre that is gaining popularity not just in Asia, but also in Europe and other Western societies, such as the United States of America, hence the popularity of BTS and PSY.

That would make it the Eurasiavision, which means a dramatic increase of the number of countries participating.

Which I think is not bad. It'll make the contest grand-scale.

So I've discovered that despite my culturally ingrained hatred of country music, I'm kind of into bluegrass and Americana (not typical country, though). In particular, I'm liking Crooked Still.

Peter Gabriel I think, actually. I liked their oldest stuff the most (I didn't go through anything from the 80's, just the 70's).

Yeah, that realm has some good stuff. I'm not a huge fan of country, either, but there's exceptions as always.

Friends of Dean Martinez has some of that Americana vibe.

Timber Timbre has a bit of Americana and spaghetti western vibe in some of their stuff.

As far as country in general, gothic country seems to be my go to. Like Jay Munly and any of his associated bands.

Wouldn't work. Eurovision is already rather cumbersome since the addition of all the countries of what used to be the Comecon and the Soviet Union.
