Someone brings up the mention of something a member of Pearl jam says, and suddenly this turns into a pointless competition of which grunge band is the best?

Yup, that's the Internet for you.

I generally dislike Coldplay as a whole, but Mylo Xyloto was actually a fairly good album. If I'm correct, it's supposed to be a concept album/rock opera.
Plus it was produced by Brian Eno. I like his stuff, especially Fripp & Eno. :p

Not really. The album does have an extremely light concept centered on like, subway graffiti or something, but only a few songs even point that direction. There is a small comic book series that was made for it after the album was released though, so it might explain how the songs that don't seem to tie in to the theme are actually part of the "concept." The album artwork, both inside and out, is gorgeous though.
If you like Brian Eno, you should check out the other Coldplay album he produced, Viva La Vida or Death and All his Friends. It took me a while to get into that one, because it sounds so different from what you'd expect Coldplay to sound like (even the hit single title track uses highly unusual instrumentation, no guitars or synths whatsoever), but I do really like it now.

Don't worry. Getting married and having a child is barely even on my mind right now until at least 30+. And even then I'd probably adopt instead.

I just have too many ideas that I'd LIKE to fulfill before the whole "settling down" thing (which I don't even really like the concept of, to be honest), but doesn't mean I will.

Also, always listen to music. Always.

No concern there :P I love listening to new interesting music all the time, discovering new music, video games, and unique and quality entertainment all over the place that I doubt I'll ever stop.

Sure, I might slow down like I have later, but stopping I doubt will ever happen.

Enjoy college, be active, enjoy the relative lack of responsibility.

Try to live without regrets. Sounds cliche, but you should try to view your whole life as a series of experiences that have shaped who you are and not hold on to anything that's happened in the past. Did I miss opportunities? Sure as hell, but I don't dwell on them and what could have been because it's said and done. I can only make myself better by focusing on the life I'm living now.

I'm actually fairly sure it's a rock opera. If I'm correct, the lead singer (I don't know his name) explained how it's the story of two people falling in love, their names being Mylo, and Xyloto.

It even has some of the characteristics of a rock opera, including a short "overture" at the beginning.

Admittedly I have heard Mylo Xyloto but I just don't expect good things from them any more. Which is a shame, because the mind who wrote Amsterdam is capable of so much more than, say, Fix You.

X&Y is just so bland, imo. The music's alright but the lyrics are just atrocious. Swallowed by the Sea is the other way around, actually, but meh. VLV is better musically but the lyrics - whilst better than X&Y - just sort of limp along with no real creative energy. It's a real shame.

A Rush Of Blood To The Head is near-perfect.

Same here. The only reason I even try to go to sleep is so that I'm functional to do schoolwork...and even then I refuse to go to bed before 1 AM.
I've literally stayed up from 1 in the afternoon to 11 AM so that I could listen to music or read/listen to music related stuff (well, among other things as well).

Listened to the Faust self-titled. It's pretty disorganized, feeling more like a collection of notes and sketches than a finished album but there's definitely pioneering ideas and great sections. The first side ranges from interesting to brilliant and the second ranges from tedious as hell to brilliant.

Volmachtia wrote:Is it strange that I don't like sleeping in? I feel like I'm wasting so much music time.

I'm this way, but not just because of of wasting music time. Even if the time I'm using while awake is pointlessly sitting at my computer doing nothing, I don't like sleeping 12 hours. Not only does 12 hours start making you more sleepy than giving you extra sleep, it's also even more pointlessly wasting 4 hours of your day. Hell, I don't like 8 hours of sleep. If I could help it, I'd try for 6 hours and program my brain to get used to that.

Look at my quote in my signature. I posted that one because I agree with it wholeheartedly.

Now, if only I'd get around to using those extra hours for something useful...

But I have insomnia sometimes, especially lately apparently, and during these times I'm always tired so 12 hours of sleep doesn't sound so bad...Or 10+ hours straight without waking up once...that was nice.

The REAL Glasers wrote:It's rare I'm in bed before 4am.

Varies widely for me. There are long periods where I'm going to bed at 4 AM to 6 AM every night, and then like lately, I've been waking UP at 4 AM...Then other times I'm going to sleep at more normal sleep times, like 9 and 10 PM...

Mines a scattered mess.

I'm gonna have to listen to it

It reminds me of the early Residents or the weirder Can stuff. Again, it's inconsistent but a lot of it is absolutely fascinating and I can hear elements that would influence just about everyone (e.g. This Heat, Nurse With Wound, Godspeed You! Black Emperor, Throbbing Gristle, Animal Collective, Sleepytime Gorilla Museum). It's a short album comprised of 3 long tracks, which each go into some pretty disassociated ideas. This piece is the best, imo.

After actually listening to the lyrics of Benji in depth, and frequently over the past week or so I have decided that it's now my favourite album of the year thus far
Fellate my ego! Check out my factbook!
Pro: Björk, Scotland, Irish reunification, LGBT rights and marriage, secularism, centrism, feminism, free education and healthcare, completely free speech, representative democracy, pacifism, Nordic model, EU, environmentalism, UK Green Party

Against: Björkaphobia, social conservatism, corporatism, fascism, death penalty, Thatcherism, UKIP, House of Lords, nuclear power, war on drugs, homophobia, misogyny, USA foreign policy

I don't have a clue about: Palestine.

The directness is charming, but for every brilliant line there's a clunker.
