Someone brings up the mention of something a member of Pearl jam says, and suddenly this turns into a pointless competition of which grunge band is the best?
Yup, that's the Internet for you.Streetgrind wrote:I remember watching a Pearl Jam documentary where Eddie Vedder (I think) said that his one regret about the Grammies were that he didn't start a fight.
Sounds like something I'd regret.Katyuscha wrote:I've been listening to a lot of Milargres, lately, and I have to say I like their sound, a lot.
Listen to their song "The Letterbomb", and you'll see what I mean.

I feel you on that one, man
But I do think that as a teenager you get to adventure a lot more than you do when you grow up
Responsibilities as an adult really weigh you down and restrict the places you go and people you can see

Guess you could say I'm a bit of a Coldplay fan.
I generally dislike Coldplay as a whole, but Mylo Xyloto was actually a fairly good album. If I'm correct, it's supposed to be a concept album/rock opera.
Plus it was produced by Brian Eno. I like his stuff, especially Fripp & Eno.

Doesn't work as well when you've been broke your entire teenage years, though..
I think I'll be adventuring more once I actually do more adult related stuff instead.

Also, always listen to music. Always.
I love listening to new interesting music all the time, discovering new music, video games, and unique and quality entertainment all over the place that I doubt I'll ever stop.

Not really. The album does have an extremely light concept centered on like, subway graffiti or something, but only a few songs even point that direction. There is a small comic book series that was made for it after the album was released though, so it might explain how the songs that don't seem to tie in to the theme are actually part of the "concept." The album artwork, both inside and out, is gorgeous though.
If you like Brian Eno, you should check out the other Coldplay album he produced, Viva La Vida or Death and All his Friends. It took me a while to get into that one, because it sounds so different from what you'd expect Coldplay to sound like (even the hit single title track uses highly unusual instrumentation, no guitars or synths whatsoever), but I do really like it now.

But X&Y was nearly a total disaster (Swallowed By The Sea is one of a few exceptions), and, whilst Viva la Vida was better, it wasn't quite up to the standard of the first two albums. Admittedly I have heard Mylo Xyloto but I just don't expect good things from them any more. Which is a shame, because the mind who wrote Amsterdam is capable of so much more than, say, Fix You.

I'm actually fairly sure it's a rock opera. If I'm correct, the lead singer (I don't know his name) explained how it's the story of two people falling in love, their names being Mylo, and Xyloto.
It even has some of the characteristics of a rock opera, including a short "overture" at the beginning.

Ah, I meant to say I haven't listened to Mylo Xyloto.
X&Y is just so bland, imo. The music's alright but the lyrics are just atrocious. Swallowed by the Sea is the other way around, actually, but meh. VLV is better musically but the lyrics - whilst better than X&Y - just sort of limp along with no real creative energy. It's a real shame.
A Rush Of Blood To The Head is near-perfect.

Try to live without regrets. Sounds cliche, but you should try to view your whole life as a series of experiences that have shaped who you are and not hold on to anything that's happened in the past. Did I miss opportunities? Sure as hell, but I don't dwell on them and what could have been because it's said and done. I can only make myself better by focusing on the life I'm living now.
