What is there to do when you get home from work other than listen to music and drink.

I mean there's working out but that's about an hour of your day.

Looks like you started listening to a lot more music beginning in October 2013. Reason why?

Not a ton. Each row had 4 albums, so I just counted by 4's, then went up to 20, counted 5 quickly, knew it would be 40, counted 5 quickly again, then to 60. It m de it go much faster than when my knee jerk reaction was to just start counting it one by one...

And I'm not sure, really. I think I just got in a bigger mood to do just lots of music listening. I think my RPing died down during that time (though I listen to music while RPing), and my video game playing, but I'm not entirely sure. I think part of it has to do with me not needing to wait for YouTube links to load anymore, too, because I used to add links every time I made a post on What Music Are You Listening To?, but then my YouTube hit the Favorites Max and I just started posting when I listen to stuff. And on a slow computer, AND with old 4X slower Internet, doing YouTube links all the time before got old so I'd take breaks a lot.

Something like that, anyway.

January must have been when I did 32 EP's in one day, and on another day I did 17 LP's. That months awful high...

Though November is awful high for me having like a week of family being up here and I didn't listen to much music during that time...

But yeah, I went music listening crazy. Dying down lately (Though 80 is still rather substantial), with a few exceptions, because I'm trying to work towards doing other things, like lots and lots of yard work, but today I needed a break from that...worn the hell out and the weather wasn't particularly nice (Still isn't)

Demen 2 wrote:What is there to do when you get home from work other than listen to music and drink.

Video games
Read
Stare at the Internet
RP
Work in the yard.
Work around the house

I don't intend to drink much (I'm 19) at all except on rare occasions when cleansing my curiosity, because that gets to be a too expensive "hobby" (Hah, says the guy with a video game hobby AND a music hobby, bot there is Steam...).

I don't plan to work out much, either...Well, except yard work, and hiking, and riding my bike. I don't really like the whole working out specifically thing, or going to the gym or anything like that.

But this is just personal preferences, obviously. I have all these ideas planned out for living as cheaply as possible in my life, how I'm going to do things a lot of the time, and so on and so forth.

Eh, I gave all my video games to my son. He likes them more than I do anyway. Besides, you do have a point. Reading is a wonderful way to spend time.

I don't have much to spend my money on, except for food and bills. I always bleed myself dry on music.

Does anyone else like James Blake's Retrograde? I heard it on the radio one day and really enjoyed it.

This doesn't include anything from YouTube listening, either, which isn't a whole lot really.

Also, with the first month of Last.FM, I actually didn't Scrobble at all (Didn't know how), and learned how about a month later.

Of course like, 80% of February is albums I've already heard in previous months. So that isn't a good indication of how many albums I've listened to in TOTAL, but still.

Listening to that new album by Pharrel Williams. It's actually not that bad, kinda Stevie Wonder-esque, but with a modern twist. I think all that's there that I really don't like is a bit of autotune sounding something here and there (I may be mistaken about that actually), but I think the vocals are unmodified for the most part. There's some soul, funk/disco, new wave, pretty good really. Likely a contender for the Grammy's album of the year award, though my personal choice is still James Vincent McMorrow's new release.

In short: not for everyone here, but I would recommend.

Want to know if it's safe before I use it. It's a site for last.fm add-ons (I think, that's the first thing that comes up when I search for add-ons on Google).

The Oscars gave an award for most Original Song to "Let It Go" from the Disney movie Frozen...and Frozen also won best animated movie...

The Oscars have a very weird concept of a song being original...That song just sounds like the definition of generic, and a generic as hell Disney song at that.

I can't comment on Frozen itself because I haven't even seen anything about it but I still feel like if it won, this must have been a shitty year for animated movies...

Let It Go didn't win "most original" song, it won best original song from a motion picture. Meaning, best new song written specifically for a movie. Not 'original' as in unique. I think it's a good song (best Disney soundtrack song in years...) and deserved to win.

Frozen was pretty good but not amazing. Great movie for kids. Similar in quality to Tangled, if you've seen that.

That makes more sense. I thought "Most Original" song would be an odd award for the Oscars. :p

I only ever seem to listen to Memoryhouse, now, in order to make myself break down, emotionally.

I don't think that's healthy.

I didn't watch the Oscars so I didn't know what the specifics were...oops.

It still sounds like a boring Disney song that I've heard similar songs to from Disney many times before. It still doesn't sound very original at all. The other choices must have been pretty bad for that one to win.

Frozen was pretty good but not amazing. Great movie for kids. Similar in quality to Tangled, if you've seen that.

Nope, I haven't. I doubt Tangled would be much of my thing.

I think the last Disney-related movie I cared about was Up (If Disney owned Pixar then), but now Disney is just ruining Pixar and Disney is getting as boring as ever.

Listened to my 10th Album of 2014 so far. The new Behemoth album.

Actually pretty good, and despite the fact I rated it an 8, I don't see it being an Album of the Year contender, because it did feel a little samey after a while and I don't really think it is death metal I can get into enough to actually own. Nonetheless, it was worth the listen.

For a second I thought I had a band from Tennessee!

Then I find out the musician was BORN there, but the origins of the band are from Oregon and Washington.

Damnit, better luck next time.

I'm not big fan of country music but his album Life on a Rock had few good songs. Pirate Flag and Spread the Love were the best ones.
And yes, that Spread the Love is pretty damn out of place, as in, it's pretty damn far from my usual tastes

To be fair, Nashville does have great blues, jazz, southern rock and country scenes, stuff like that. But that's not the kind of stuff I be ratin' on RYM.

After checking again, I have rated one metal band from Tennessee. Some progressive metalcore band called Invicta that I barely remember listening to a few years ago.

They're unique in that they tune to standard compared to literally every other -core band tuning to Drop C and below, though

New Coldplay songs veer away from anthemic stadium rock style and more towards James Vincent McMorrow meets Daft Punk ambience...I like it. Could definately get used to a Coldplay album that doesn't probably get played to death for years.
