Hate you be an ass but you better take care of Gilda right then and there. The rest of them can eat the grass around the area or forage- it's the carnivore you need to get rid of right then and there because while I like gryphons, in an emergency you and your ponies will be eaten.

Fortunately you're omnivorous so you don't actually need meat and you can always fish. Which Gilda could do as well, eagle and all. So you might not have to off her- but if worst comes to worst...

As for water, there's got to be some way to filter the water on the coast, and if you're on a jungle island, rainfall is a thing. Rainwater isn't the best but it's something.

As a vegan, I can safely say that far away from civilization it is not a good idea to go veggie. Do you know how many vitamins I have to take each week? If I were in Ceffy's position, I'd just smash the gun. The only thing one shell is going to be useful for is suicide, and I don't particularly want that to happen. Gilda's almost certainly a better hunter than me, and while aforementioned vitamin deficiencies wouldn't necessarily be fatal, at least not in the short term, they would certainly not be pleasant.

I never said it was the best idea to go veg, but there aren't many options. As for smashing the gun, well that's just silly. If you're not going to kill yourself or another survivor, then you can fend off at least one wild animal.

I wouldn't kill any intelligent creature solely based on the fact that it eats meat. Gilda is easily the hardiest, strongest flyer in the group, and she has hand-like claws. As Wis said, she'd make the best hunter, but in a pinch, could also wield the gun if I couldn't. So, no, I wouldn't smash the shotgun.
