Having only gotten through the first 150 pages of Book Five of the series I shall pass what knowledge I can without finding spoilers. Time to earn a link in my maester's chain.
Hodor (real name [not actor name] Walder) is something of an ensemble Dark Horse (pun not intended) in the series. He is/was the stable boy of House Stark (the was not being due to the fact he died but rather because their is no HOUSE Stark anymore, though he still serves Bran). He is a simpleton and the only word he is capable of saying is Hodor, and yet it seems to be a favorite line among fans (so much so they've done a rendition of the GOT theme using only the word Hodor). He also happens to be quite physically imposing standing seven feet tall (which some claim to be due to giant's blood), though he's generally not an intimidator. After Bran Stark was crippled and left unable to walk Hodor became his means of transportation, carrying him in a makeshift basket.
And quite literally that's all there is to his character, even less than Flash Sentry's and yet Hodor is quite popular...
Does Hodor go around stealing everypony's waifus?
I know. It's... so... awesome!
What do you think, RD?
