The joke is that the actor is the son/daughter of the mother, and is a subtle reference to the Empty Child.

Fair point.

And we all know that this guitar scene can only end in the creation of a new, entirely better universe.

I mean getting rid of her. Judging by the preview, I'm stuck suffering her idiocy through the whole damn season. Again.

I mean, if they were gonna off her (and the rumor mill says they might, but it always says that and so far she's still here), do you really think they'd do it in an ordinary mid-season episode? They'd save that kind of drama for the finale.

She doesn't deserve drama. She deserves the most humdrum, anti-climactic exit you can imagine.

Wait, wait, wait, 0:33? Is that Odin? Or are we getting into Celtic mythology? I hope it's Odin, because then it's Fenric confirmed.

Celtic?
Don't you mean Norse?

Though I think there were several variations of Odin in several mythologies(Uncertain, though).

The general look and the one good eye suggests Odin, but winged helmets is more of a Celtic thing. So, while my first thought and my deep desire is that it's Odin, there's also a good chance the figure is actually Celtic.

(Insert ramblings on proto-Indo-European religion and how they're all the same deities here)

You're assuming Doctor Who gives a fuck. A folly that has destroyed many men before.

I'm pretty sure that Odin has been confirmed to appear. Would fit the old English village in Maisie's episode.

A thought occurs to me; why... why do Daleks talk? Like, they're all psychically-connected, at least in the post-Asylum (or, probably more accurately, post-Victory) models, and maybe have been the entire time. So why bother giving them voices? They don't really negotiate. Maybe to bark orders when they bother to enslave but that was never in their original design.

Look, it's been, like, a year and a half since Doctor Who has been a part of my life. I'm easing back into it.

It seems reasonable to me that they were not originally psychically linked and verbal communication is vestigial.

As egotistical as they are, they just love hearing the sound of their own voices. Hence why they talk to each other.

Or the TARDIS is translating their telepathy into audible English.
