I finally watched the Godfather series this year and, to be blunt, I think it's totally crap. So utterly boring and inconsequential that I really don't see what the fuss is all about.
Edit: Layer Cake's good, too.

She isn't. She's horribly ugly.
Of no consequence. Unimportant. Immediately forgettable. No more than a series of tedious images shown one after the other on a screen.

(If you haven't heard of it, it was written/directed by some guy called Michael Crichton and among its stars is a promising up-and-coming actor called Sean Connery who I think you ought to look out for...)

The Parkus Empire wrote:It was of consequence, because it greatly influenced film and popular culture. Stanley Kubrick said that The Godfather was probably the greatest film ever made. So while you can level boring or forgettable at it if you wish, which are relative terms, it is far from inconsequential or unimportant.

Actually, I'm quite the opposite. I simply don't judge women - famous or not - on socially-accepted standards of Hollywood beauty generated by marketing. I evaluate each individual on my own terms, based more on their intellect and personality than how big their breasts are or whether they fit a cardboard cut-out version of so-called beauty. So, you know, put yourself in that bucket instead.![]()
(That was a joke, by the way, in case you took it personally.)
You have hit my nail on the head. What I meant was entirely that: the film was of no consequence in my eyes, thus I could not possibly understand why everyone makes such a big deal of it. I don't, for one minute, deny that a LOT of people consider the series several of the greatest films ever made - the empirical evidence states it, after all - but I just don't see it, myself. To me it was tedious, boring, forgettable and of no consequence at all.
I'd be happy to understand why, to be honest, as I love film in general... and I feel I must be missing something important if it's such a consequential film for so many people!
