Seska, had she stayed for longer, would've been glorious, too.

Why was Kes terrible?
She was boring, bland, and a lot of the time whiny despite being the designated future God character. Fuck that shit.

Seska OTOH, was wasted - she'd have been such an awesome protagonist-villain.

How could it be if it's not even really star trek?
It was about as star-trek like as Total Recall 2012 was Total Recall-like.

How was it not star trek?

Character portrayal seemed off to me, and they changed history.
They mas as well have changed the branding & names of everything and presented it as it's own franchise. You wouldn't have noticed that it was intended to be Star Trek.

Its alternate universe, like mirror universe. Characters are different in mirror universe and so is history, however it is still part of Star Trek franchise.

It's either too different or not different enough.
They should either re-align it, or make it even more different.

So, am I the only one who finds Seven of Nine to be kind of...meh? Sure, her tits are alright, but she's not the best woman out there. I've seen much better at the grocery store.

That was sort of her entire role really. To wear a body-hugging catsuit and scissor her legs whenever the camera had a good enough angle. They only came up with the plot later most likely.
Honestly if Mulgrew would have just aquiested and given into the lesbian relationship that was hinted at pretty heavily it would have made the show more watchable. Certainly would have distracted from the overwhelming desire I had to strangle Paris and punch Torres at the same time.

Seven is a good character because she has an interesting backstory, has a lot of character development, and is intelligent and educated. Her physical attractiveness is just a bonus.
"Our progress in degeneracy appears to me to be pretty rapid. As a nation, we began by declaring that "all men are created equal." We now practically read it "all men are created equal, except negroes" When the Know-Nothings get control, it will read "all men are created equal, except negroes, and foreigners, and Catholics." When it comes to this I should prefer emigrating to some country where they make no pretence of loving liberty -- to Russia, for instance, where despotism can be taken pure, and without the base alloy of hypocracy." - President Abraham Lincoln.

Seven is less educated and more programmed.

Mmm, the super-tolerant 24th century sure did seem to be lacking in gay people. Though, I suppose Dax would kinda count as bi.

DS9 did... not constantly but once in awhile :D

But to bring it back to the matter at hand, Voyager would have gotten out of their predicament a lot sooner with somebody else.

Picard... having ignored Worf for the 45th time when he suggested raising shields... would probably get the Kazon to start fighting each other so the Enterprise could gain safe passage, broker an allinace with a more amicable race, and subsequently demoted Paris to sub-boot licker and Torres to junior probationary paint scraper.

Sisko would have destroyed several ships and sealed his reputation in the delta quadrant as not to be f**ked with anyway which would have sealed that deal.

Having not successfully told Paris to shut his stupid mouth otherwise he would be beaten with the chain of command, and not successfully told Torres to stop whining and fix the damn plasma conduit or be beaten with the chain of command, one has to surmise then that her command style is... lacking.

That's because she didn't beat Paris and Torres with the chain of command when they deserved it many times over.

Seriously, if Torres and Paris would have given me the lip they gave Janeway I'd have slung both of them into the brig and forgotten about their meals for a few days. No way to get home and aggressive aliens means that lessons need to be rather simple and to the point. Plus my fist isn't made of badassium unlike the Sisko, who probably would have punched one out and looked at the other to gain compliance :D

No, she was a terrible captain because she got her crew stranded 70,000 light-years from Earth when there were plenty of alternatives, and the vast series of absolutely horrendous decisions she made during the journey. And for God's sake, she allied herself with the fucking Borg! She could've gone to Species 8472, offered them help or explained the situation to them and gotten them to leave the rest of the galaxy alone, but no, she had to help the single most dangerous species in the recorded history of the galaxy!

And yes, 8472, that was the single dumbest thing Janeway did. Here you have a species that is pissed at the Borg and can wipe them out, and you go and HELP THE GODDAMN BORG?!
Of course then they might not have been able to access the transwarp hub...

Considering I gave up on Voyager and have only caught sporadic episodes... y'know cause the cast was mostly boring or shit, why shouldn't she have had to? Aside from the moment they got flung to the delta quadrant in the first place obviously.

That is my reason. That was the single dumbest thing she did, not sending the ship back when she had the damn chance.

Voyager was good, very interesting when it got later in. Though Janeway lacks greatly in the intelligence region compared to most captains.

Species 8472 were coming to destroy the entire galaxy, their power meant they could do that. They blew up entire planets with six of their ships for god sake, they were much more dangerous than Borg, Klingon, Romulans and Dominion combined. They were almost as dangerous as the sphere builders and had similar intentions.
What makes you think Species 8472 would have listened to her rather than blowing up Voyager? Only bad decision there was she did not use the bioweapon to exterminate Species 8472.

My vote goes to Worf, as temporary acting captain of the Defiant… during the second Borg incursion into our solar system.
