Anyway, I gotta ask, what do you see in that battle that makes it your favorite?

I have yet to determine a favorite for myself. There are sooooo many to choose from . . .

There are a ton of fictional battles that i like, but my top three would be:

1. Battle of the Black Water (Clash of Kings, A song of ice and fire)
2. Battle of the Hornburg (Two Towers, Lord of the Rings)
3. Battle of the Wall (Storm of Swords, A song of ice and fire)

I always preferred the Battle of the Trident that was fought during Robert's Rebellion. I know we never really have it described in detail in the book, but the thought two greatest warriors in Westeros going head-to-head always gets me excited.

I thought about that too, but Tyrion's genius idea with the chain and the wildfire really won me over.
The battle at Castle Black was also really awesome.

The Battle of Pennenor Fields from LOTR (books and movie), as well as the Battle of Hoth from Star Wars (I've always liked the AT-AT's) and the Horus Heresy from Warhammer 40k

Although the Horus Heresy was really a civil war, it's seven year length would really constitute as a battle by Warhammer standards.

The Horus Heresy was essentially the largest and most destructive war the Imperium of Man had ever faced, engulfing the entire milky way galaxy into a colossal civil war waged by two major factions: The Imperial Loyalists, led by the Immortal God Emperor and his servants, and the vile chaos-corrupted Traitor Space Marine Legions led by the infamous Warmaster Horus. It's outbreak marked the end of the Emperor's Great Crusade to reunite mankind's lost colonies under a single government at the beginning of the current Age of Imperium. The Horus Heresy is in many ways the founding event of the Imperium of Man as it now exists. The conflict was fought across the Milky Way Galaxy in the early centuries of the 31st Millennium and resulted in more than 2.3 trillion dead, 4.6 trillion if one includes the planetary populations purged by the Imperium after the Heresy due to the taint of Chaotic corruption. The Heresy concluded with the death of the traitorous Warmaster Horus, the internment of the Emperor in the Golden Throne and the creation of the Chaos Space Marine Traitor Legions. The Heresy was directly responsible for the birth of the present-day structure of the Space Marine Chapters following the Second Founding and the Reformation of the Imperium by the Ultramarines' Primarch Roboute Guilliman. In the aftermath war still continued with rogue Imperial Warlords taking advantage of the chaos to create their own empires, and with the beginning of various and seemingly endless xenos (alien) incursions into the Imperium's realm.

That siege on Minas Tirith... I just can't remember the battle's name. :palm:. Anyway, you just gotta love armies that huge duking it out with catapults, dwarves and magic.

The Walking Dead Season 2 finally was also a really good battle. I guess if you call 500 hundred zombies vs 15 people on a farm a battle.
