This was only the first cour. Even in some of his other works, notably Psycho-Pass and Fate/Zero, he only really hit during the Second cour. In FZ no one was dead by the end of the first, like 3 out of 14 major characters were alive by the end of the second, of whom two were antagonists. Urobutcher is just awaiting his right time to kill.
On that note, he seems to like Zeros.

That'll be. . . interesting, to say the least. Looking forwards to December now.
Also Phantom Bullet was well-done and didn't go trashy like ALO. Pleasant surprise was pleasant and really good. And I watched Arpeggio of Blue Steel on a whim. Gives "pretty ships" a whole new meaning, don't it? Actually good IMO, particularly because the concept is weird as hell to begin with. I swear the people are on acid, but I'm not complaining.

Lastly, finally decided to go for Black Lagoon. It's rather a hoot.

I think it's just different. Which is good. One can get tired of mechs, magical girls, and end of the world scenarios too. Princess Jellyfish is neither of those.

If you paid attention, you'd notice the characters last names come from a variety of ethnic backgrounds. The only Asian in the whole show is Mikasa, and she's pretty much the last one left.

I suppose the point is that by this point all of humanity has had to mix in the walled cities to such an extent that nationality before the Walls doesn't matter anymore, making it a more universal story about the oppressed/occupied? Eren at the beginning reminds me of Hamas or Chechnyan separatists- consumed with anger and a desire to fight those who he sees as responsible for putting his people in a box.

Ah. Currently I've only got 11 capital ships (2 fleet carriers and 9 battleships, none of them Yamato class) and have generally avoided putting them in situations where they'd be in danger of taking massive damage. I'm figuring on buying more space soon so I can expand my fleet.

You don't need capital ships, use some for modernization. You need carriers to clear the event map, and one should be Taiho to keep launching planed after critical damage.
