I'm sorry I haven't seen an anime with a harem that I haven't found boring and repetitive yet.

The issue I find with harem anime sis that there are so many that the genre is saturated, and by the time you come across one that actually has a plot and character development, you get turned off because there is a harem, no matter is It is the focus or just a secondary device. And, because the harems all seem to be carbon copies of each other.

Legend of Black Heaven. Managed to nab the entire boxed set for $40. It was a very lucky find, and I've been looking for it for a while. :)

The story is about an emasculated office drone who reminisces about his glory days when he used to riff on guitar, until one day his wife decides to throw it out and he gets visited by aliens and caught up in an interstellar prophecy... and I guess I'll find the rest out later, but it looks potentially epic.

And if that's not enticing enough, it's got a nice ost.

That is the recommended order, though any of them work. Zero is finished, so you might feel you want to watch that first)
Fullmetal Alchemist Brotherhood (Brotherhood, not the original, the latter isn't bad but it isn't as good)
Kara no Kyoukai: The Garden of Sinners (Do note It's a bit of a heavy show and not for everyone)

So you've seen Geass, Death Note, FMAB and are currently watching Fate? Right, then. Why the question mark? Are you asking what they're about? Let's see;
Baccano!:
*Yes the explanation mark is necessary.
Synopsis
During the early 1930s in Chicago, the transcontinental train, Flying Pussyfoot, is starting its legendary journey that will leave a trail of blood all over the country. At the same time in New York, the ambitious scientist Szilard and his unwilling aide Ennis, are looking for missing bottles of the immortality elixir. In addition, a war between the mafia groups is getting worse. On board the Advena Avis, in 1711, alchemists are about to learn the price of immortality.

Based on the award winning light novels of the same name, this anime adaptation follows several events that initially seem unrelated, both in time and place, but are part of a much bigger story—one of alchemy, survival and immortality. Merging these events together are the kindhearted would-be thieves, Isaac and Miria, connecting various people, all of them with their own hidden ambitions and agendas, and creating lifelong bonds and consequences for everyone involved.

The best word to describe Baccano! is fun. It isn't 100% serious and not every little detail has meaning and depth that requires analysis, but it is quite simply, some of the most fun I've ever had watching a show. The characters are witty, well written, the dialogue and moments funny and entertaining, the action simply great as well. It has a great soundtrack too.

I'd recommend the dub, one of the best out there. Plus it's not even set in Japan so watching the sub makes less sense, unless you're Japanese.

Cowboy Bebop:
Synopsis
The year 2071 A.D. That future is now. Driven out of their terrestrial eden, humanity chose the stars as the final frontier. With the section-by-section collapse of the former nations a mixed jumble of races and peoples came. They spread to the stars, taking with them the now confused concepts of freedom, violence, illegality and love, where new rules and a new generation of outlaws came into being. People referred to them as Cowboys.

Meet Spike and Jet, a drifter and a retired cyborg cop who have started a bounty hunting operation. In the converted ship The Bebop, Spike and Jet search the galaxy for criminals with bounties on their heads. They meet a lot of unusual characters, including the unusually intelligent dog, Ein, and the voluptuous and vexing femme fatale, Faye Valentine.

If the synopsis didn't sound too appealing, I agree. But it's hard to do justice to this show with just a few words. Cowboy Bebop is an old time classic that shouldn't be missed. The series is kind of episodic, with most episodes having their own self-contained story and arc, but most delve into the characters, their story and their origin. The overarching plot it about Spikes past, and those episodes are fantastically well done. They are also extremely serious, in contrast to the good (but not necessarily great) comedy the other episodes can sometimes display. Bebop also has a fantastic soundtrack.

The Dub is the singular best dub I've ever heard, so naturally I recommend that. Once again there are no Japanese characters anyways, so yeah.

Kara no Kyoukai: The Garden of Sinners
Synopsis
September, 1998: In the city where Shiki lives, something triggers a spate of mysterious schoolgirl suicides. The connection between the girls who've leapt to their deaths is unclear, although all of them have jumped from the Fujou Building, a skyscraper scheduled to be demolished.
March, 1995: Mikiya Kokutou meets a girl who has a mysterious gaze and falls in love with her. That April, he's reunited with her at his high school entrance ceremony. The girl's name is Shiki Ryougi. Meanwhile, the city has been rattled by a series of bizarre murders. There are no known links between victims, and the motive is unclear. An astonishing secret awaits Mikiya, but he doesn't find out until three years later...

The two synopsis's are for the first two movies, and to post them for the others could potentially spoil the preceeding movie, so I won't. There is a lot to be said about Kara no Kyoukai. First and foremost, it should be noted that this is a series with a high level of entry, which can get a little ponderous at times and very heavy. That aside, the highlight of this show is Shiki Ryougi herself, who is my personal favourite female anime character. The stories of the movies are not set in chronological order, seeing as it's set something like this;
Mirai Fukuin Final Scene&After Credits January 1995
Movie 2 August 1995-March 1996
Movie 4 March 1996-June 1998
Movie 3 July 1998
Mirai Fukuin First Part (Both Stories) August 1998
Extra Chorus Part 1 August 1998
Movie 1 September 1998
Extra Chorus Part 2 October 1998
Movie 5 November 1998
Extra Chorus Part 3 December 1998
Movie 6 January 1999
Movie 7 February 1999
Movie 7 After Credits Late February/Early March 1999
Epilogue Boundary of Emptyness March 1999
Mirai Fukuin Second Part - 2009

Though this is for narrative reasons, and it should be watched movie 1, 2, 3, 4, 5, 6, 7, Epilogue, Extra Chorus and finally Mirai Fukuin, and not in Chronological order. The movies themselves seem disconnected at first, but everything comes together slowly and gradually over time, tying the plot up nicely and incredibly well. In total, they're about the equivalent of 30+ episodes in length, so not the length isn't as daunting as it might seem at first. I should also say here that the soundtrack is my personal number one anime soundtrack of all time, being incredible as it is, the animation is some of, if not the best I've ever seen in an anime. As an added bonus, it's set in the same verse/multiverse as the Fate series you are currently watching, so if you pay attention you may notice the connections.
Once more, though, this is a series that isn't afraid to stop to ponder philosophy, idealogy, souls, religion, good and evil, etc, and again, is very heavy at times and not for everyone. And I mean ponder, seeing as the epilogue is 30 minute long conversation, and this might be too much for some people. I personally consider it a fantastic show, though.

There is no dub, and the sub voice actors are great anyway, so sub.

Rurouni Kenshin:
Synopsis
Tsuiokuhen: In the days before the Japanese Revolution, Hiko Seiijuro, a wandering master swordsman and hermit, encounters a bandit raid on a slave wagon. Hiko kills the raiding bandits in hopes of saving as many lives as possible, but only manages to spare one life from the massacre. Hiko leaves the child, advising him to go to the nearby village and have them take care of him. A few days later, as Hiko comes back to check upon the child he saved, he is shocked to see the child had created graves, both for the slaves he befriended and the bandits who killed them. Seeing potential in the young one, Hiko takes the child under his wing, names him Kenshin, meaning "heart of sword," and teaches him about the art of swordsmanship under the Hiten Mitsuruugi Ryu.
Struggling in a constant challenge with his ideal beliefs reflecting against the harshness of reality, Tsuiokuhen tells the melancholic and dark story of Himura Kenshin as one of the most feared assassins of the Japanese Revolution: the Hitokiri Battousai.

Tv show: Himura Kenshin is a vagabond with a dark past and sunny disposition. Not a ronin but a rurouni, he was never a samurai, but an assassin of utmost skill in the Meiji restoration, who in the turning point of the war simply walked away. His travels lead him to Tokyo in the 11th year of the Meiji era, where he befriends a female Kendo master, a former thief, a brawler and a doctor all with their own secrets. Together they fight off the enemies surfacing from the dark past that Kenshin cannot escape.

Another one of those old classic type shows, Rurouni Kenshin was one of the big shounen of the past (which are, in my opinion, infinitely better than most of the modern ones, certainly the big 3). It is, as the synopsis says, about Kenshin, the wandering Samurai and his many adventures. Tsuiokuhen is the highlight of the series, and is in fact a lot more serious seinen-y work. That's not to say the original Kenshin is bad, it just isn't as good. It certainly makes the Tsuiokuhen experience better, though, and is a fun watch by itself. Just do as I advised and drop it after finishing the second season, watch Tsuiokuhen and then pick up the manga where the second season left off. Seishonen I won't post the synopsis since it'd spoiler the main series, but it's set afterwards and....whether or not you like it depends on preference. The original mangaka certainly doesn't like it much, considering he says its not canon and all. The soundtrack is pretty good, but not great.

Dub is trash, watch the sub.

Monster:
Kenzo Tenma is a renowned young brain surgeon of Japanese descent working in Europe. Highly lauded by his peers as one of the great young minds that will revolutionize the field, he is blessed with a beautiful fiancé and is on the cusp of a high promotion in the hospital he works at. However, all of that is about to change with one critical decision that Dr. Tenma faces one night—whether to save the life of a young child or that of the town's mayor. Despite being pressured by his superiors to perform surgery on the mayor, his morals force him to perform the surgery on the young child, saving his life and forfeiting the mayor's. All of a sudden, Dr. Tenma's world is turned upside down by his decision leading to the loss of everything he previously had. A doctor is taught to believe that all life is equal; however, when a series of murders occur in the vicinity of Dr. Tenma, all of the evidence pointing to the young child who he saved, Tenma's beliefs are shaken.

Naoki Urasawa's Monster is a tale full of mystery, suspense and intrigue as Dr. Tenma journeys to find out the true identity of the young child. In turn, the fate of the world may depend on it.

This is another series that isn't for everyone, especially considering it's length of 90+ episodes, but once again a fantastic show. I don't really know how to describe it, but the most appropriate words here are thrilling and intriguing. The main antagonist outdoes Light and Lelouch in his genius. The writing in Monster is exceptional. The pace is slow but captivates with moments of shock, awe, and depravity, which are masterfully combined with well executed moments of anticipation and proper denouement. Again it can be a bit heavy and is incredibly uncomfortable and unconventional at times. The topic of evil is proactively exploited through revealing the extent of human depravity in conjunction with exploring matters like child abuse, mass murder, collective brainwashing, human experimentation, the value of life, and so much more, studying them in depth. It a fantastic high tension mystery all the way to the finale. Sadly the soundtrack doesn't quite match up, but it isn't horrible and above average.

I'd recommend the Dub once again for this one.

Steins; Gate:
Synopsis
The eccentric mad scientist Okabe, his childhood friend Mayuri, and the otaku hacker Daru have banded together to form the "Future Gadget Research Laboratory," and spend their days in a ramshackle laboratory hanging out and occasionally attempting to invent incredible futuristic gadgets. However, their claymore is a hydrator and their hair dryer flips breakers, and the only invention that's even remotely interesting is their Phone Microwave, which transforms bananas into oozing green gel. But when an experiment goes awry, the gang discovers that the Phone Microwave can also send text messages to the past. And what's more, the words they send can affect the flow of time and have unforeseen, far-reaching consequences—consequences that Okabe may not be able to handle...

Steins; Gate is an unconventional form of a time-travel story. But it's also much more than that. It starts off exceptionally slow, but it's comedy was entertaining enough for me to forgive that. Once episode 9 or so sets in, it's a roller coaster ride to the finish. Each character is given development and thought, the twists are emotionally charged, much like the series itself and strongly effectual. The soundtrack is also pretty good. Dynamics between characters and the plot are well written and believable and immensely entertaining to watch, once again, just like the show itself.

As for Dub or Sub, it's a bit tricky. The Dub is good and a lot of people like it, but I personally preferred the Sub, which also a lot of people liked. You won't get Mamoru Miyanos awesomeness and hillarious Engrish in the dub, though, so maybe go for the sub.

There is an OVA and a movie, both of which should be watched in that order after the series.

The Holy Dominion of Inesea wrote:Is Fate/Stay and Fate/Stay UWB worth watching?

Fate/Stay Night (2006) by DEEN is not. Neither is Fate/Stay Night Unlimited Blade Works (2009) by DEEN.

However, from what I've seen thus far, F/SN UBW 2014 by UFOtable certainly is worth the watch, especially if they continue to be faithful to the VN.
To get the full experience, I'd recommend this;
1.Read the Visual Novel. I know it's not for everyone, but I'd recommend at least the Fate route (which isn't getting a new adaptation and has the old bad one instead) so as to get the full Fate/ story.
2.Watch F/SN UBW 2014
3.Watch the Heavens Feel Movies to be released in 2015/6
4.Read the Fate/Zero Light Novel's and watch the anime. Although it's a prequel it assumes knowledge of Stay Night, casually spoils it's twists and doesn't fully explain every detail, though it is an exceptional piece of work itself.
Of course, if you do step 1 fully and read all three routes of the VN, you can read/watch Zero at any time afterwards. Otherwise, watch/read it after the rest.

A Psycho-Pass scan doesn't check for mental illnesses. (I'm terrible at explaining so this may not make sense) It checks for signs (Signs from their brainwaves) that would hint at them having a higher probability of doing something illegal. (you know, like murder)
For Makishima, he was asymptomatic, so he showed none of the signs as his brain showed no stress or negative emotions, and since Sybil didn't have someone who understood him, they couldn't find any direct signs. There is also the chance that Sibyl could read him but purposely gave him a lower hue so they could attempt to recruit him into Sibyl.
(Though I could be wrong about all this.)

Yes. Though maybe I'm a bit biased here, but I feel it's only redeeming point was the soundtrack, which was good.
Otherwise, the characters were made shallow, the animation bad and lazy and mix mashing and changing parts of the plot made it fairly incoherent.

I've been trying to find out the name of an anime, I've seen it in ads and images before but the name just doesn't catch on. I think it involved people underwater or with suits that resembled old diver ones or the pilot suits that were in Last Exile, kinda retro steam/diesel-like. It involves a lot of rusty pipes and some girl with blueish hair and pinkish eyes.
