Your point is flawed. Just rolling over and accepting TV like this, stuff that just panders to the lowest common denominator and provides nothing of substance, is why TV is a wasteland. Especially when they take a respectable franchise like Star Trek and do this to it.

So they said when TNG Started, and when DS9 started, and when Voyager, and Enterprise, and TAS and Disco and Picard.

Granted Lower decks is the farthest deviation, but the flaw in is that your criteria is subject entirely to your own opinion. Having broad appeal doesn't make something bad, and having niche appeal doesn't make something good.

A. This appeals to me.
B. This is why it appeals to me.

Logical statement is logical.

You seem to think I was laying down gospel when I was just laying out why I find something appealing. What you can't seem to wrap your mind around is that while I fully respect that you don't like it, at as a matter of your personal preference, but you don't respect that I do. Not only do you not like it, you look down on, and antagonize people who do. Keep that in mind the next time you cry victim.

1. So they said when TNG Started, and when DS9 started, and when Voyager, and Enterprise, and TAS 2. and Disco and Picard.

3. Granted Lower decks is the farthest deviation, but the flaw in is that your criteria is subject entirely to your own opinion. Having broad appeal doesn't make something bad, and having niche appeal doesn't make something good.

1. No they didn't. TNG itself was actually pulling in 11-15 million viewers per episode, even before BoBW. This whole "ST fans are toxic and hate the franchise thing" only started when Kurtzman took over the franchise, and with good reason because he admits to hating old ST including but not limited to: TOS, TAS, TNG, DS9, VOY, ENT, and all of the movies. (TBH, I don't even think he knows 4/6 of those shows exists) So yes, ST fans generally hate the franchise now because the franchise is being murdered by a jackass who got his job in Hollywood because of mommy and daddy's money.
2. STD and STP are definitely though, as they betray everything ST has spent the past 40-50 or so years establishing in favor of making a BSG 04 rip off.

Interesting but unrealistic. When you only have 3 shuttles and those shuttles only hold 7 people, your crew are going to be premium. But Starfleet doesn't operate like the shuttle program. I think a closer analogy is the US Navy, And there the spectrum is a lot broader.

Well that's a lie because anytime anyone brings up any criticism of Kurtztrek you're one of the first to come in to try and defend it.

Which is weird character progression because you actually started out not liking it for much of the same reasons people here still don't like it.

I needed an oven mitt for that one, jesus christ. a military is designed to defend it's state and it's interests. starfleet is exploratory, scientific, humanitarian, in some ways experimental. you're being insultingly reductionist

No, a military's first job is defense, with anything else like exploration or diplomacy only coming as a consequence of needing to work to build a greater defense or working towards their bosses own self interests.

Starfleet's job first and foremost is exploration/diplomacy and scientific research. We don't have any service in this day and age that's comparable to Starfleet.

Sure. I'd say its closer to navies during the 18th and 19th centuries, only in space. Which is where Gene took inspiration from, specifically the HMS Enterprise. Funnily enough it was originally a French ship but was captured and pressed into the English navy. Might be coincidence but Picard being a Frenchman with a British accent seems like a low key nod to this.

No, a military's first job is defense, with anything else like exploration or diplomacy only coming as a consequence of needing to work to build a greater defense or working towards their bosses own self interests.

Now a days perhaps, but thats because there's not much left to explore. In the colonial age the Military had exploratory roles as well.

Starfleet's job first and foremost is exploration/diplomacy and scientific research. We don't have any service in this day and age that's comparable to Starfleet.

Sure, but they also spend a lot of time working on weaponry for that diplomatic fleet. While yes, it's not their primary mission Star Fleet still does take on that role of defending the federation which meets the definition of military

"relating to or characteristic of soldiers or armed forces."

They even have the same hegemonic culture of the modern military, NATO ranks and all.

Starfleet is totally a military. I've always been a little annoyed they try acting like they aren't.

Ok, so in STP artificial synthetic life is banned right, with the main reason for this being "Galactic Treaty."

So, quick question, what is this "Galactic Treaty"? Who does it apply to? Does its ideas and policies stretch across the entire galaxy or just the known areas of the Alpha and Beta Quadrants? Why is it an attack that happened only in The Federation lead to a ban of Synths in areas that aren't The Federation? Why does it apply to synthetic organisms like Data (B4) or The Doctor even though they're legally considered people? Does this apply to synthetic species like that one robot chick in STD? Does Alex Kurtzman hate Star Trek (The answer is yes)?

I'm sorry, but the reasoning behind the Synth ban in STP makes no sense.
