The Hobbit and The Lord of the Rings do not encompass the entirety of Tolkien's works, though. You know that. If you make a thread, give it a title that encompasses the entirety of the history of Eä.

The LotR are his main works, no?

His most well known works, perhaps.

The TOS. I could watch it for free on CBS.com so I did. Then I got Netflix and watched DS9 which is my favorite. The best character and plot development of any ST series by far.

Pretty much watched every series in the order they came out.

-Reruns of the Original Series.
-First showing of The Next Generation on British terrestrial TV.
-Deep Space 9.
-Voyager.
-Enterprise.

Enterprise is my favourite series out of the whole lot followed by DS9, likewise Star Trek II: The Wrath of Khan and Star Trek VI: The Undiscovered Country rank as my favourites out of all the films.

Recently seen the trailer for the new Star Trek film, anyone else get the feeling that they just ripped the plot from Heart of Darkness/Apocalypse Now?

Alternate Spock says Spock's dying words in Star Trek II: The Wrath of Khan in Star Trek: Into Darkness (though Alternate Spock doesn't die I think)

Nope. His main work is the Simarillion.

I hate Abrams enough already for the first film. If he tries to pull shit like this in the new one I will not be happy.

Enterprise was wretched. That Series Killed Star Trek, It's dismal actinbg and crappy story pretty much ruined any chance of further TV Shows.

I admit it had its problems but I also say it was more of a late bloomer, it was getting better as the fourth series rolled around.

Humanity was less mature, it makes sense, I'm only up until season 2 of Enterprise.

I liked Enterprise more than some of the other series simply because it had more of a 'Final Frontier' feel to it, they really were venturing into the unknown (at least for Humanity). Reckon the fourth season was worth it for both the Mirror Universe episodes and that it actually touched upon Human Xenophobia in the future.

I still say that Janeway is the worst captain in any of the shows, and possibly in the entire fucking franchise.

Yeah, but how many years of his crew's life did he take, and how many of his crew never made it back at all because of one stupid decision?

I hate Janeway. She was utterly incompotent and any other Captain featured in the show could of resolved Voyages problems in the very first episode.

What sort of tools does a starfleet engineer bring with them for repairs or something broken?

And she made a ton of good decisions. Most Star Fleet captains would not have worked with the Maquis.

Literally any other captain wouldn't've had to.

Most Star Fleet Captains weren't but into situations that required them to do so. I have a hard time believing that Sisko, Piccard, or even Kirk wouldn't have worked with the Marquis had they been in her situation.
