Commenting here while watching Next Generation. Haven’t seen much Star Trek, currently watching Brothers for the first time. It’s a wild ride.

Filming that episode must have been a bitch. It's one thing playing your evil twin, but then also playing your elderly creator and having them all interact convincingly.

Yeah, I don't really put much stake in that poll. Cause all the pilot episodes sucked. Even DS9's.

Oh yeah, Voyager totally had the best pilot.

Oh god, I've transitioned into watching Voyager again. It's crazy how the show makes me feel, it's incredible how different it really is from TNG. TNG is a good, likable show with many good episodes mixed with lesser episodes aplenty. TNG defines Star Trek. Voyager, on the other hand, receives an omnipresent unconditional love that cannot be controlled because it's the best Trek. I completely lack an ability to modulate the amount of gushing I do for Voyager.

On the subject of the actual best Trek, I'm hoping there's some DS9 references in Picard. Even a throwaway line about Sisko being back would satisfy me.

Initially, the filming was affected by the fact that the Voyager set contained three "Roberts" (i.e., Robert Beltran, Robert Picardo, and Robert Duncan McNeill) as well as Ethan "John" Phillips. "So there were a lot of 'hey yous' floating around the set for a while," Winrich Kolbe recalled. (Star Trek: Communicator issue 101, p. 58)

Would like to point out that this is an issue easily solved based on the personalities and age of the people involved: Beltran is clearly a Robert, Picardo is a Bob and RDM is a Rob.

Hmm, I think I’d have to go with this exchange from Way of the Warrior for my favorite scene:

Gowron: Think about what you are doing. If you turn your back on me now... for as long as I live, you will not be welcome anywhere in the Klingon Empire. Your family will be removed from the High Council, your lands seized, and your House stripped of its titles! You will have nothing!
Worf: ... except my honor.

As for favorite episode, now that’s tough. I think I’d have to go with Chain of Command, if two parters are allowed. Part 2 if they’re not. “There are, four, lights!” is easily right behind the above as my favorite scene, especially in light of the episodes closing lines. The Riker/Jericho relationship was interesting as well, with neither being entirely wrong nor entirely right.

Actually, its probably the mouth being too small. I saw an edit in the STSP FB group where someone gave him a bigger mouth, and he looked like TNG and movie-era Data.

All the pilots are pretty cringe, in hindsight. Except for Emissary, but even then, its nowhere as good as the rest of DS9, except for other season one episodes.

Having grown up with Voyager, and only relatively recently watching DS9, I think they're equally excellent representations of Trek at its finest.

Actually, the hilarious thing is that from the convention videos I've seen, that's actually how the other cast members talk about them. Except RDM is Robbie, instead of just Rob.
