Also, please don't bring back the Borg again.
I'm so fucking sick of the Borg being brought in as the big bad in every single Trek show.
They've gone from awesome bad guys to soap opera baddies.

They aren't the big bads of every single Trek show though, only TNG and VOY. (TOS didn't have then, DS9 had the Dominion, and ENT had the Xindi and Romulans)

The problem is that they're much more terrifying when you don't actually know how they came to be.

Point was, they've been milked to death.

And yeah, absolutely.

into the music to fuel a revolution.
For a second I thought this was it for Union Central and the Moclans. Those guys really do not get along. And Kylden continues to be an insufferable twat.

Yeah, I'm completely done with Klyden, but at the same time I find myself getting more annoyed with Seth over it. Klyden and other Moclans are basically Seth's caricature of rightwing conservatives. At first I thought they were going somewhere with it, but at this point they just seem to be the whipping boy over social issues. At first I thought you could interpret the Moclans a number of ways, but doesn't seem like that any more. To me it's a story failure with how heavy handed they're being, certain lines fall flat. But overall I suppose it's a minor nuisance compared to the rest of how good the show is.

Cool episode was cool.
Really wish shows would stop it with the cliffhangers though.

On Klyden, I agree, he’s an ass. But, I think there’s enough evidence to make him less an object of hate and more an object of pity, similar to Gollum from LotR. Basically, I think most of his problems originate from his first visit to a Union doctor, where he discovered he was born female. From that point he embraced Moclan tradition out of shame, trying to “make up” for his flaw. This also could have left him with a sort of resentment of the Union for shattering his blissful ignorance.

Once Topa was born, his shame and self-loathing probably only got worse, since he likely would have felt he himself was responsible for his child being born inferior, as he was. Add onto this that the aftermath of About A Girl” has his and Bortus’s marriage slowly falling apart, and his apparent lack of any friends among the crew, and once again he would have only Moclan tradition to lean on during a very turbulent time in his life. So, his worsening behavior could be due to isolation from moderating influences leading to ideological radicalization. Now, I could be reading too much into this, but I think there’s enough evidence for the theory to stick.

As for the Moclans being a caricature of conservatives, I’d say yes and no. Certainly they’re fervently traditionalist, and thus socially conservative, and they like many Trek species suffer from planet of hat syndrome, but they do not appear to have any religious elements, their prejudices seem to originate from a secular tradition and/or pseudoscience, nor do they seem to follow anything we would recognize as fiscally conservative. That being said, the Krill arguably already fulfill the religious fundamentalist niche, and given this is a Trek homage, a Ferengiesque race can’t be too far past the horizon.

My urge to rewatch a series is starting to peak, despite the fact that I have no time right now. The struggle to figure out which series I want to watch when I inevitably do have the time is real.

I liked it, thought it was a good finishing episode for the season, shame Pike wont be in it anymore he was really fucking good, but im interested to see what they will do in the next season with Discovery stuck in the futur.

Those time travel scenes were fucking cool, really well done. Loved the arrival of the D-7 fleet too, that was neat. So was the gravity fight between Georgiou and Leland.

Rip Admiral Cornwell, she was alright, kind of saw either her or Number One dying though so was not too surprised. Honestly thought more than that would die.
