What the fuck Picard?

Voyager: *breaks warp 10. Has two crewmembers merge into one, then kills him to get them back. Goes back in time, fixes time, somehow gets away with stealing advanced 29th century tech. Meets supreme beings, lets supreme being kill himself, becomes nanny to the kid of the supreme being Picard met. Frees a Borg, makes the rest of the collective Janeway's bitch. etc.*

Its no wonder she got promoted to Admiral virtually the instant they got back to Earth.

Your forgetting about Harry Kim who deserved a promotion so badly. I mean Nog got promoted quicker he joined the academy at the end of series 3 not long after Voyager went to the delta quadrant, came back to DS9 near the end of series 5 as a cadet, became an ensign at some point in series 6 and became a lieutenant in the last episode, all before Voyager came back. But I suppose in a weird way Voyager was extremely lucky avoiding the Dominion war.

Well, there was a war going on. Chances are if no Dominion War, Nog wouldn't have been so fast-tracked.

Lucky him.

Anyway I'm sure this has been discussed before but is anyone here planning a star trek cards collection?

Kim’s rank freezing is more to do with his predicament than anything else. He’s low man on the totem pole, non of the other Bridge officers died or were demoted, he’s stuck in Ensign due to circumstance, not because she doesn’t perform.

But Paris got demoted and then re-promoted and Kim never got anything in that time.

Tom Paris disagrees.

Sucked on DS9, sucked here.

I fail to see how extremely underpaid workers who Quark has repeatedly attempted to demand sexual favors from aren't being trod upon.

He didn't demand until that episode. Which was the writers just veering him out of character to make the pro-union point look better. Sure he hit on them like the perv he is, but he never said "Fuck me or your fired" until that episode.

And as I said last time I mentioned this episode, he couldn't afford to pay them the same as usual, cause business was way down during whatever the Bajorans were doing. If he was a real dick, he could have just fired them all. But adjusting salaries for a drop in business was treated like him being evil.

There's nothing out of character about it. Quark is a greedy and abusive employer, and a sexist to the n-th degree. It's simply putting 2 and 2 together to realize that of course he would try to obligate his employees to ridiculous demands.

Of course he's greedy and abusive. He's a Ferengi. That's their whole shtick. As I'm apparently failing to convey here, that episode turns him from comically greedy to just asshole greedy to make the pro-union stance look good.

No Orville this week, but Discovery was good. Season two is significantly better than season one. This is what it should have been all along.

It also looks like we get an explanation as to why holographic communications isn't used in the future as well as for the discontinuation of the spore drive.

I really don't see the difference between "comically greedy" and "asshole greedy" in this episode. If you are criticizing the episode because you hate unions, just say that you hate unions, and stop trying to couch your criticism in misdirections.

Oh, I do hate unions. But that doesn't change my point about them ratcheting up his douche level for propaganda purposes.

Buddy, if you don't like when Star Trek preaches some liberal principle or another, you're wasting a whole lot of your time. Almost all of Star Trek is preachy, it's how the show has always been.

And when the preaching gets to be too much, I complain. You really wanna get me going, just mention Far Beyond The Stars.

Yes, I've only had one job and it didn't last long. But I made employee of the month in the short time I was there. So don't try to infer I'm lazy.

God, that says more about you than about that episode. That's among the best of DS9.

No, the best is stuff like In The Pale Moonlight, Siege of AR-558, Waltz, etc. Not that glorified Hallmark channel special.

No, I was pointing to your lack of experience with them yet claiming they suck is ironic or a silly belief.

Especially since union states can make so many jobs that get paid shit in right-to-work states (Like trade jobs) 6 figure jobs.

A union going on strike cost me a job I was pretty much set to get. So they can all go rot.
