The crew's (captain and below) work uniforms on Enterprise are dope, the MACOs uniform is also okay. All other uniforms on Enterprise are fucking stupid.

It always tickles me how according to Enterprise (And STD now that I think on it.) they go from functional looking uniforms, to go-go boots and miniskirts in a few generations.

I kind of get it. In Enterprise the ships are basically subs in space. There's no luxury space, everything is an operational area, you got exposed pipelines and plasma conduits all over the place. Sneeze to hard in the mess and you can knock the warp core out of alignment. wearing coveralls as a standard work uniform makes sense. By the time of Kirk, the ships are much more livable, with operational areas, and other areas for other things. More relaxed uniform variants makes sense, (I mean yeah I know I'm just rationalizing periodic stylization and canonically only lasted like 5 years anyway, until they switched to the body condoms of STP and then the glorious red service uniforms of Khan-Generations). And then of course by the time of TNG, I'm surprised Picard isnt captaining in short shorts with that Cruise ship.

But that's not really the issue. I get that for a show they want all the uniforms to be stylized for easy visual recognition, but the Dress uniforms and especially the Admiralty uniforms are fucking stupid. Coveralls with a shirt and tie? Ffs. The US Navy has something like 9 different uniforms. Surely Starfleet could make like 3.

Battle of Sector 001 should have been like 10 minutes longer.

Yeah, as a uniform/insignia connoisseur I find the entire Star Trek uniform situation to be pretty infuriating. Half the time the crew is dressed like aircraft carrier flight deck personnel for no good reason, when they do have separate dress and service uniforms they usually look like clown costumes, distinctions between officers and enlisted is basically an afterthought, it's all a mess.

Only 10? I want to see a movie from the moment Starfleet engages the Borg up until the Enterprise arrives, with larger ships like the Galaxy and Defiant classes fighting.

Oof, now I remember why I usually skip "Memorial". Paris blowing up at B'ellanna, Nelix's shame over scaring Naomi. Just a little too real.

I forgot about that certain detail in "Before and After" which casts Harry Kim in a really creepy light.

Sad day, Star Trek alum Kenneth Alexander Mitchell died. Complications from ALS. He played a couple of characters in Disco.

4 episodes in and we're getting the Fall of Reach and minimal Kwan Ha content. Season 2 GOATed?

Ive genuinely been enjoying Halo Season two more than the first one, its still not an amazing show but i think its been consistently more enjoyable imo.

The reach focused episode was the best imo, it was very well done. And Kwan Ha honestly... is not terrible this season, i dont mind her.

God, the confrontation between Lily and Picard is still one of the best scenes in all of Trek. the writing, the performances, the pacing and build up to iconic line deliveries. Just S class

It's a good scene, but my hot take is that it was a little out-of-character for Picard. To have Picard be so obsessed with revenge against the Borg that he starts making terrible decisions and becomes extremely angry, it feels like something Picard just wouldn't do. Even a PTSD ridden Picard wouldn't do that, I feel. It probably wouldn't bother me so much if we saw that kind of behaviour in "I, Borg" or "Descent," but we really don't.

It's hardly out of character. The Borg incident traumatized him big time. I mean do you not recall him breaking down in tears during "Family"? And how Satie mentioning the incident during "The Drumhead" made him tear her down by simply quoting her father? It's clearly something that stuck with him. And losing his ship to the guys who assimilated him and used him to wipe out like half of Starfleet is not a strange reason to be angry.

Not to mention his new ship. Losing the D affected him as well, he's not ready to lose another ship so soon after losing his home for 8 years. A loss, that was at least tangentially precipitated by the Borg invasion of the El-Aurian system.

God I really do love Starship Troopers. I know it's not really "TV" but it doesn't need its own thread. Just wanted to gush, and it really does hold up well after all these years.

I really liked this one, probably my second favourite episode of the season (and the show overall) behind the Reach Episode this season (Episode four iirc)

Okay so the big one, we are on Halo! Hurray! And it looks like the UNSC are deploying in force to occupy the ring since we saw those cruisers descending from the clouds. So either the Covenant fleet was either completely destroyed after the Assault Carrier went down, or the surviving ships routed from the System. Or maybe some are deploying to another part of the ring off screen somewhere, but i expect the Covenant will launch a full assault to take the ring next season and i wonder if this is how they will introduce Thel as The Arbiter.

Have him be the commander of the fleet that was defeated (I cant remember its name from last season and if its the same as his from Halo CE or not) and for his failure in stopping the Humans from occupying the Ring he is made an Arbiter and tasked with leading the assault to retake it. Speaking of the Arbiter, i really enjoyed the final fight between him and the Chief this episode, yes it was very CGI heavy but i genuinely did not mind i thought there were a few good transitions here from CGI to live action in the fight and it ended well.

Overall i like Chief more this season though im still not too fussed over his thing with Mackee, like its a bit interesting now that she is going off on her own into the Halo and seems intent on just firing the thing because she is a fanatic. He also had a few moments where i just felt he was.... not great honestly, but others i really enjoyed like his scenes coming to terms with losing Vannak and Riz etc. He is okay, more to be done hopefully to make him a bit more likeable.

Really hope Kai is not dead, i suspected they were gona pull a Jorge with her and have her blow up the Carrier, and thats exactly what they did but since they showed her drifting in the debris intact she will get picked up, healed and sent down to Halo next season alongside Perez etc. Kai is one of my favourite parts of this show so i really want her to stick around for as long as possible.

Now for the other big one. So Onyx has a flood outbreak, wonderful! And by wonderful i of couse mean... horrible because its the fucking flood and they are on a planet and not confined to a Ring. So... deep shit the UNSC will find itself i reckon. Kind of mixed on how they were introduced, they clearly took influence from the Last of Us series which i dont really mind since they did show tentacles and tendrils ripping out of some of the infected Humans, so its not just... zombies. Its Zombies with extra steps so close to the combat forms from the games but not quite there yet.

I thought the outbreak though was very... sloppily done? I think they personally should have kept a full outbreak in the UNSC base till next season, like start with someone getting infected like they did here and then slowly mutating into a carrier form (which she kind of did, just not a big bloated one like the games) and infect a few people as the episode ends or something. But it will be interesting to see what they do with the Flood in season three and i really hope we see them mutating more into the iconic flood forms to reflect the parasites true fucked up effects on people it infects.

Interesting that Halsey is infected, glad they didnt kill her though Miranda is kind of fucked being completely surrounded by them. Not watching Kais episode last season has kind of left be a bit off about her with the forerunner ghost...thing she keeps seeing and... why it takes the form of someone she never met. But i did like her far more this season compared to season one so gg on making me somewhat like the worst part of season one. Soren was alright this season, sucks his wife lyra died i guess... Ackerson lives which is great he is one of the best parts of this season so hopefully he leads the lockdown on Onyx after seeing whats going on but i can also expect he will... try and do something really bad like try and use it as a weapon since ONI did fuck around with that in some comics.

Oh and they introduced 343 Guilty Spark, dont mind his redesign honestly, it still looks suitably Forunner-ish, might take a bit to get used to the voice but its fine. Also they need to use Cortana more, severely lacking this season.

edit: I do like how they used the Spartan III's, they were sent on a suitably fucking doomed suicide mission and took horrendous casualties just like they did in Ghosts of Onyx. I wish they didnt die soo easily though, they were basically just... white armoured marines honestly. Kind of like the Spartan IV's from Halo 4 onwards since Perez became one. Iirc they were all teenagers in Ghosts of Onyx though older in Reach. But yeah i hope we see them in more action next season since some did survive.

edit edit: Parangosky absolutely becoming a gravemind lmao get fucked. Nah thats... still a horrible fate though.

Overall, good episode, this season was a big improvement over season one in my mind, still not a great show but its getting better, hope they keep that trend with season three.

I enjoyed it. It has its flaws, but the major theme I find in the people panning it really boils down to them judging it for not being what they wanted (a frame by frame recreation of the game) and not judging it for what it is. They've completely flipped the story and order of events on its head, but if I'm being honest I think this progression works better for a story with multiple moving parts, rather than Chief being the epicenter of literally everything.

I'm intrigued where season 3 is gonna go
