I know it's probably way to late but in Star Trek nto darkness do they ever elaborate on that fate of the Vulcan colony or that alien race who lived in the red forest planet.
“One of the serious problems of planning against Aggie doctrine is that the Aggies do not read their manuals nor do they feel any obligations to follow their doctrine.”
“The reason that the Aggies does so well in wartime, is that war is chaos, and the Aggies practices chaos on a daily basis.”
“If we don’t know what we are doing, the enemy certainly can’t anticipate our future actions!”

I actually tore it up in the comments. Here's my hashing.

I have to disagree. 90% of this pitch is utter crap that reads like drunk fan fic and overused tropes. It’s Mass Effect in a Star Trek frame.

The scourge thing is understandable at least. Need a Big Baddie, but this reads just like the Reapers from Mass Effect.

And the characters?
Alden is just Admiral Pike
Kirk: spotty past and superior officers get killed so he takes command? This is literally just James T. Kirk. And they even called the character Kirk. Lame.

Forlaan: Feline species with an uncontrollable curiosity. Are you kidding me? That joke is a one off at best. It’s just plain lame.

Kenyatta: Skilled at prose, math and everything but personal relationships. Maybe they can get Brent Spinner to wear a dress. It’s just Data. Plus political officer? Did the federation become a communist regime?

Diz: Now this is an actually new, fresh idea that we’re looking for. I mean, it is just Johann Kraus from the Hell Boy series, but the character arc would be interesting.

Dr. Chen: Could be interesting yet could be a huge flop. Depends on what “Issues” her humanity could face

Majel: Back to Mass Effect, this is just Edi. And implausible that StarFleet would put a computer on this ship that can have a temper tantrum. The thing regulates life support for God’s sake.

Jeskott: typical character.

This is honestly just the hammy crap attempt that I expect from the person responsible for Superman Returns.

Honestly my biggest complaint is that it is stale. There's nothing new, nothing original to bring to the plot. Enterprise at least brought some more originality with the Xindi wars

I'd rather see a TNG series set in the new timeline, when the Klingons and federations are never allies. A good set up for a Darker toned series, and we can finally get a goddamned Federation Marine Corps

There's honestly nowhere to go in the original timeline. The Klingons and Federation are closer than ever. The Romulans and Feds are improving relations The Tal Shiar being half the threat it used to be. The Borg are in disarray, the Cardassians are neutered, the Ferengi never lived up to being the bad guys, the Dominion is pacified, the Breen aren't strong enough to be an all out threat to the federation. 8472 cant overcome our bioweapon, in 2 centuries the sphere builders return but we know how that ends.

It's pretty locked up

If you like cynical dark crap, you have every right to, but there are other series that cater to that. Star Trek doesn't need to be one of them.

But I wouldn't mind seeing Starfleet beef up its combat capabilities a bit, though it already has since the TNG days.

We now practically read it "all men are created equal, except negroes" When the Know-Nothings get control, it will read "all men are created equal, except negroes, and foreigners, and Catholics." When it comes to this I should prefer emigrating to some country where they make no pretence of loving liberty -- to Russia, for instance, where despotism can be taken pure, and without the base alloy of hypocracy." - President Abraham Lincoln.

That would be alright. Deep Space 9 had its flaws, but it also had some damn good stuff. In fact, while its been a while since I've watched it, I'd say its probably the best Star Trek series.

In your dreams TNG and STE are by far the best in the series even better then the originals. Never count out Picard.

Even though the Battle of Wolf 359 was a major event on TNG, it was Deep Space 9 that actually showed it in detail.

Eh,..... STE would be much better without the power ballad.

DS9 was better than TNG but Picard is by far a better Captain than Sisko. Sisko may be more likeable but Picard is just the Epitome of Captainly virtue

I don't remember it even being shown on TNG, thought the Enterprise just came upon the aftermath.

Out of Kirk, Picard, Sisko, Janeway, and Archer, Picard is the best captain.

It's easy to be virtuous when you get to move to a new system every week. I'd like to see Picard stay all moral if he was in Sisko's spot.

It would be interesting to see how Picard would have handled commanding Deep Space 9.
