And only if you don't become Barclay levels of obsessed with it. Frankly, I like that they acknowledged what people would do with the Holodeck. They aren't going in there to play Richard the 3rd. They're going in 99% of the time to get freaky with the holograms.

What makes you think they're not doing both? I'm sure King Richard and the Saracin Princess would be a popular title.

Edit: Also, DS9 did not shy from that fact at all. I'd honestly be afraid to use one of the Holosuits at Quark's. God knows what's covering those walls...

How do you clean a Holosuite? Using transporters you just beam any remaining biomatter out of the suite and keep it covered to energy, then feed that back into the power grid. Like it was never even there.

I'm not entirely sure how that came to mind, but seems reasonable.

So, I know more about Bortus than I ever wanted to know. Also, Moclans have a real strange culture. Overall, first half of the episode was a bit of a slog but the second half was enjoyable enough.

I don't think transporters can convert stuff into energy, but I think replicators can do that.

Wow. That was a ballsy writing choice for The Orville.
Alara is gone. I mean, I didn't think they had the stones to go for that option.

Got caught up with Orville. Been a good second season so far.

Agreed, the show won't be the same without her. This was still a great episode with some great casting. I was expecting Robert Picardo to come back, but I was not expecting Doctor Phlox to show up.

I'm assuming that we're getting another Xelayan for the Security Officer, or is Patrick Warburton's character the replacement for the season?

I wouldn't expect another xelayan. I kind of hope it isn't Warburton's character though, that second esophagus is going to drive me nuts. Overall the episode was good, though I am sad to see Alara go. I did think it was weird for Ildys to be chosen to help Ed when his hand was burned though.

Yes, we're getting another Xelayan, Jessica Szohr has been cast as a new character named Talla, and she has been shown on set in Xelayan makeup.

If that were true, shouldn't the DS9 episode "Our Man Bashir" have had DS9 overload or something?

Fair. In terms of aesthetic/story/action, JJTrek really was 'What if Star Trek tried to be like Star Wars?', which worked moderately well...right up until actual Star Wars movies started getting made again.
