For centuries we watched them grow and slowly so back then
But late one night when man looked up in wonder of the skies
Our moon came down and gave him voice that he too might be wise
And so man leapt ahead of us with theory and machine
But young man still was jealous of our power he had seen
He sought to claim it for himself and so he hatched a plan
Man would take our kingdoms, Man would drive us from our land
For years their scholars studied learning details of our world
With confidence and pride they marched with banners now unfurled
For man invented warfare; a concept new to us
He challenged we to his new game to crush us into dust
A hundred years this game went on and man took no step back
Our walls bowed down to his machines, our cities burned and black
'No more!' cried sun the hundredth year, 'Too many have been lost.'
'This foolish game is evil. Every man will pay the cost.'
With pain and magic never seen the sun flew into rage
And with her powers, turned to man and built for him a cage
A place where man with all his might could harm only himself
A marble blue on cloth of black, and far from magic wealth
She threw him there so violently that man forgot his speech
He lost his understanding of the world he sought defeat
But moon was full of sorrow for she saw the good in men
And late that night the very same, in dream, she came to them
She gave her gift of speech again and told him very stern
'I wish for you to find me, but first lessons you must learn'
And so she keeps a vigil of the their prison from afar
Sad for his sin, but ever proud he yearns to join her stars
When human kind is angry and it turns to sword and shield
The moon afar in her own land will weep for him to yield
But when he works together, reaching far into her space
A smile soaked with tears of joy are seen on Luna's face
'Tis one small step for man", she says, 'Towards his life with me'
'And one giant leap forward in the truths that he must see'
'I hope one day, I know they can, that man will find my shore'
'Until that day I patient wait, and love them evermore'"
