From this one. It's considered canon, iirc.

Well, given that it was written by Matthew J. Norton, I'd believe that.

I had a conversation with my step-dad about the teaser site.

He said that if it is real, he hopes it isn't like New Vegas. For some reason he preferred FO3 to NV, yet still liked FO 1&2.

FO3 is a mixed bag to Fallout veterans. Many of them hate it with a passion, but a considerable amount like it just as well as the classics. Of course, since 3 was my gateway into the series, I can't hate it. :p

I find that interesting.

I started with Fallout 2 in, like, 2000 or 2001, played Fallout 1 after and loved both. Been a die hard fan since

I liked Fallout 3 as a game, but not so much as a Fallout game, if that makes sense. In its own right, it was a fun game, but it wasn't my Fallout. Te continuity issues bugged me (and you're right that there's been plenty of them across all Fallout media), the story was goofy, and while I suppose it had to happen, I kind of didn't like the fact that Super Mutants, BoS and Enclave showed up. At least they gave the Super Mutants a back story on how they got created in that region of the nation...even if it was Mariposa Part 2. (and I imagine some people would have been pissed if a Fallout staple like the muties hadn't shown up). BoS was shaky...I know they went West, it makes logical sense in any case (and if one believes what Fallout wiki refers to as semi-cannon Fallout Tactics, then we know they went as far as Chicago) and, really, I suppose Enclave isn't too much of stretch, it was the seat of the government, after all (but then why was the President on an oil rig off the shore of California? I need to re-read up on my lore.) but...some baddies NOT the baddies from the last game would have been nice.

At least New Vegas introduced some new "bad guys".

New Vegas was, in my opinion, far an away better than Fo3, if only because it was more my Fallout....down to the look of it, the references to past events and familiar places (which wouldn't have worked in Fo3 anyways), even the reuse of some of the music from Fallout 2.

Fallout 3 was good, it was a fun game, but...Fallot is, and will always be, a California game to me.

I'm another one of the Fallout 3 starters. Never actually played the originals. I actually prefer F3 to New Vegas. The setting and map of New Vegas kinda bores me, I liked the empty, uncivilized Capital Wasteland, even if it really didn't fit Fallout or it's canon as much as the Mojave did. But then they did Lonesome Road, which had the best setting of all the DLCs (IMO) and better than the Mojave, albeit smaller.

You're right though, Lonesome Road was a great setting and probably the best of FoNV's DLC's. Even if I found its plot line to be a little. "...what?"

Fo3 introduced me to the series, but I made it a priority to play and finish the originals after I finished my first NV playthrough. Why can't Fallout fans just chill out and enjoy how good the series is!

Yeah, LR was one of my favorites, just because of how fun exploring and playing in it was.

On the subject of DLC, Fo3 had the best of them, in my opinion. Varied, interesting, less out-there, but still having the silly parts.

I agree about the variety part. A lot more uniqueness to the FO3 DLC. One minute, you're liberating Anchorage from the Chinese minute. Another, you're arming a slave rebellion in Pittsburgh. The next, you're desperately trying to escape an alien spaceship.

Though, imo, Old World Blues still beats 'em all!

I came into the series with Tactics. I have loved all of the others.

Your points are very understandable.

Also, the Enclave left east after the Oil Rig got Blewed Up, and set up shop all across the mid-west. Specifically Chicago. Afterwards they sent some guys to DC, where they found an active ZAX Super Computer, that would eventually become President Eden. IIRC Commander Autumn used the super computer, who had long since taken on the role as acting president, as a figure head to control the Enclave more effectively.

Atleast, that's how I remember it. You can go read the official timeline to see everything that happened. I found it highly entertaining to read through the whole thing. Read it here.

Besides: continuity errors are common place in fallout lore. There has yet to be a conclusive bit of evidence to suggest when the bombs dropped.

I'm not saying it's real, but it seems fairly creditable.

IIRC the nukes in Fallout are meant to spread radiation more than they are meant to destroy, apparently H-bombs were retired before the Great War.

On my first play through of FNV I hated and feared the desert. It was very wide, open and deserted meaning that you could be attacked out of nowhere. Seeing as my character was relatively weak at all forms of fighting getting from Point A to Point B was like a race where I would stop at any forms of civilisation.

Nuclear Winter is coming in 8 hours everyone.

Exactly. Just walking a straight line will see to it that the NCR loves you, and the legion kills you on sight. Unless you go and shoot up McCarran, it ends the same every time. They gave the Legion /no/ effort, and dared to call it a multi-choice campaign.

Hell, if I reinstall it, sometime, I might have to do some big mod where the Legion is expanded upon. I used to do personal mods for 3, so it's not too outrageous of an effort.

There is a mod that doers that.
