Brad Pitt And World War Z

Postby Ralkovia » Tue Nov 13, 2012 9:23 pm

http://www.algemeiner.com/2012/11/09/ne ... ael-video/

Brad Pitt as action hero will certainly excite a lot of people, which, lucky for them, is the role he plays in next summer’s “World War Z,” a zombie apocalypse film adapted from the book of the same title written by Mel Brooks’ son, Matt.

In the film, which had a budget of $125 million by the way, pretty much every country on the planet dismisses the threat of a zombie endemic except for…Israel. This leads to a nationwide quarantine and the closing of its borders to everyone except uninfected Jews and Palestinians.

Israeli actors Noa Bodner (Israel Defense Forces soldier), Gil Cohen-Alloro (IDF general) and Daniella Kertesz (IDF officer) have roles in the film, which is expected to hit theaters next June.

Of course, through the magic of film nothing was actually filmed in Israel, but rather in Malta.

So this is going to be an epic movie. How many of you guys have read World War Z?

EDIT: Wrong Channel.

I would have been more excited if it had been told in a sort of pseudo-documentary/looking back method instead of just as a big budget survivor story.

Well, that's not fair, it's not a survivor story, it's told from the person coordinating the defense. But, that's not really what I found charming in the book.

That's the charm of adaptation, though, it has to go through the lens of the adapter and they don't always think what you think is important.
"...I have been gravely disappointed with the white moderate. I have almost reached the regrettable conclusion that the Negro's great stumbling block in the stride toward freedom is not the White Citizen's Council-er or the Ku Klux Klanner, but the white moderate who is more devoted to "order" than to justice; who prefers a negative peace which is the absence of tension to a positive peace which is the presence of justice; who constantly says "I agree with you in the goal you seek, but I can't agree with your methods of direct action;" who paternalistically feels he can set the timetable for another man's freedom; who lives by the myth of time and who constantly advises the Negro to wait until a "more convenient season." -MLK Jr.

i am disappointed that its not following the book particularly much.

except for a kickass title, there are plenty of good zombie plots out there. no need to take a great one and make it a mediocre one because you love the book title.

word war Z is the best zombie book ever. not in small part due to my love of studs terkel.
whatever

They don't really seem like the slow zombies specifically mentioned in the book.

But more 28 Days Later style...

Read the book, and the zombie survival guide, three times each.

Personally, I think an adaptation of World War Z should have been a mini series.

... Nah, apart from what other's have posted, it looks like the director/producer/studio got there hands on a new special effect, what I'm going to call: body clumping, and have decided ramrodded the effect as the center of the film. It reminds me of that pathetic movie The Covenant (2006) where all the characters' magic are apparently shooting air balls at one another. No, really watch it, and be disappointed.. I'm not going to get my hopes up about this adaptation of World War Z.

For a lack of a better word, yah. In the trailers you see the the zombies not as a mobbing hordes, but nearly organized stream(s)/flood with barely a foot of space between the rabid corpses. Its as if someone got a hold of Peter Jackson's CGI Program of the massed legions of orks and uruk-hai at Helm's Deep; then said 'no they're too far spaced apart, I'll just lump them together.'

Thousands of rabid, mindless beings, their sole focus on eating whatever it is they can see, without the brains to find another way around or avoid running into each other, actually seems like that would happen.

Any zombie movie that is not 28 Days Later or Shaun of the Dead is stupid and I hate it and it's stupid.

I'll end up seeing this movie regardless though.

28 Days Later didn't actually have zombies and Shaun of the Dead was a comedy.

I think that's what good zombie films have in them, that 28 Days Later style, which by the way is my favourite film. So who knows, this may actually be a good film especially with Brads amazing acting.

Not Y so much, but X and Z definitely. Also omega. That makes everything cooler. And lots of 7s.

The coolest you can come up with would be X77Z7 Omega or something to that effect.
