I enjoy a lot of it.

My favorite eras are the Baroque Era (Bach, Handel) and the Romantic Era (Tchaikovsky, Chopin, Grieg, Rachmaninoff). I do, however, prefer the Romantic Era because it seems that there is more variety while Baroque music seems to be too analogous.

I'm not a huge fan of the Classical Era, though (Beethoven, Stamitz, Mozart). But a lot of Mozart's stuff is pretty good, so there's some Classical Era music that I like.

I wish we were able to preserve some more of the pieces written by non-Western cultures in the same time. Sure we know what they likely sounded like, but I wanna know what other cultures' equivalents to the Western Classical period's greatest works were.

I like it, for the most part.
"Our progress in degeneracy appears to me to be pretty rapid. As a nation, we began by declaring that "all men are created equal." We now practically read it "all men are created equal, except negroes" When the Know-Nothings get control, it will read "all men are created equal, except negroes, and foreigners, and Catholics." When it comes to this I should prefer emigrating to some country where they make no pretence of loving liberty -- to Russia, for instance, where despotism can be taken pure, and without the base alloy of hypocracy." - President Abraham Lincoln.

As I've gotten older I've come to find that everything but classical and jazz is kind of thin and uninteresting. Not that I don't like other stuff. I'm going to see The Coup at the end of the month, and I listen to other genres at least as often as I listen to these two. But after listening to these other genres almost exclusively for the first forty years of my life, I have to say that they're getting dull and repetitive. But not these.

Shit, I popped a Saint-Saens CD (the Organ Symphony) in the car today and my nine-year-old said "turn it up." So there's that.

The majority of metal is not gothic, there's a lot of tasteful metal, sometimes you just wanna lie down and angst out, that's not a healthy mentality, it's an incredibly varied genre. I also think that's one of the worst AC/DC songs but they're not metal.

Classical music is awesome, I'd say it's one of my favorite genres.

AC/DC is indeed metal, it's just the old style of metal before they switched to rap-style vocals and did away with lead guitar. Metal purists actually wouldn't consider most of the current stuff metal... no solos, weird vocal tendencies (like I said, way too much rap in the modern stuff), none of that is associated with true metal like Sabbath, Zeppelin and, yes, AC/DC.

There was a conversation somewhere above where people were discussing AC/DC or something. A bit off track, huh? XP

Also, AC/DC are hard rock and not much more. <- my input

Apart from Grieg, it has never really appealed much to me. There are some great classical works out there, though.

Love it. Especially Mozart, Vivaldi and Tchaikovsky. Kind of like Chopin.

My favourite classical symphony is Eine kleine Nachtmusik by Mozart. I also love the 1812 Overture by Tchaikovsky. Not because of V for Vendetta.
