LoTR. That's not to say Harry Potter isn't a great series of novels, although I will say it isn't a great series of movies; I never even bothered with any after the 4th. I know nothing of the Hunger Games and don't reckon I'll read the books though maybe I'll end up seeing the movie at some point. I will of course avoid Twilight like the plague.

Tbh LoTR should not be in the list. Three of the series were aimed at teens (well, younger kids for the early Harry Potters). Lord of The Rings was not.

Lord of the Rings is more like a textbook than anything. That's the only way I can really describe it without comparing it to itself and its spawn.

I prefer The Hobbit's tone - it's endearingly juvenile, in a way. More child-like.

No it isn't. It's an adult's novel. The Hobbit is a book for children, Lord of the Rings is a book for adults.

Read The Silmarillion and then call LotR a textbook.

The Silmarillion is a mythology book.
Read Unfinished Tales and then call The Silmarillion a textbook.

Lord of the Rings by miles.

Then Harry Potter books,
Then Hunger Games.
Twilight doesn't deserve to be on.

Actually, just received my reading lists for English A-levels. I'm studying Gothic literature at the moment.
The Twilight Saga is on there.
I just... :palm:

I haven't read/watched Twilight or The Hunger Games.

LOTR worked better than Harry Potter as a movie, but I have a hard time choosing between the books because they are good in different ways.

Haven't read most of the LOTR group, but the Silmarillion and the Sons of Hurin are better than all the others. Harry Potter and Hunger Games are still good.

Twilight is not literature and it's definitely not to be compared to LOTR.

Just because all your friends read Twilight doesn't mean you get to speak for the whole US.
