Whoops. Germany got big. Included is the Suez channel, parts of the fertile west and east bank of Africa as well as the Dutch Java, which I had the liberty of winning in a great war that they were considered a great power in, along with France which was my original target.

Still got some time left, going to go for a final great war against Russia and seize some more even land, enough to dissuade them from further military attempts at least.

Could you guys give me a few pointers for Vic II? I have no trouble with EU III, HoI 2 (or DH for that matter) or CK II, but understanding of Vic II just seems to evade me.

Damn, never thought that Crusader Kings II would be so... vivacious.

I mean, building up a whole family, seeing dem grow, stuff like that. Damn. Also, my person's father died of a hunt (aged 53), he was married with his half sister (at his death aged 28), now playing as his son (aged 23), and he married with his aunt (therefore his father's spouse).

Dat Game of Thrones

Is there anyway I can unite all three kingdoms under one crown at this moment?

Seniority is good for unifying titles. Make sure you don't have too many old people around though, or you'll be in for a few decades of continual succession problems.

I hate seniority. One get a new ruler every three years, and it's a big detriment to the stability of one's realm.

I was interested in playing as the Czechs, but the idea of fighting the Wehrmacht is just a bit daunting, anyone have any advice for holding the line?

Yeah. Do not cede to the damn treaty of Munich agreement which gives virtually all viable defensive positions away firstly. Secondly improve said damn defenses with what little IC there is, with what little else IC there is create Inf-inf-AT-AA divisions along the entire border with fighter support. 'daunting prospect, but if done right can work.' Ensure that not only the line facing the German gets this special treatment, as Hungary will join in and eventually Germany WILL take Poland. Make yourself into the second Switzerland and try your luck from there. Extend the time before anyone 'Germany' declares war on you the best you can and just pump out as much crap as you can. Develop the technology where it is needed the most and do not deviate into luxuries. Also ensure that the officer ratio is at least 100% all the time, if not, things can fall apart quickly.

You surely mean Absolute-Cognatic Primogeniture... You know who is next successor is (and chances are they are going to be adult) plus one year old son born right before death of current ruler doesn't cause problems.

The female heir and female ruler maluses are something I like to avoid. Also, the whole changing to Basque culture and getting foreigner maluses when you are and then changing back is just way too much trouble to be worth it in my opinion.

So I finally played March of the Eagles, and it's really fun.

As Russia, I completely wiped out Persia, and took out large chunks of the Ottoman Empire. Then I joined the coalition against France and got my ass kicked. :p

Gavelkind is the worst. It says a lot that whenever I have that succession system I have to devote a lot of time to beating it.

I sort of appreciate the greater demense size, but the fact that I have to assassinate all but one of my children kinda sucks, especially if that child then dies later.

It's awesome for forcing me to cull the weak, though.

I usually just give all but my main title to my heir when my current character gets old, and wait for them to die until I'm in position to institute primogeniture.

You could make your sons bishops as well. That disqualifies them from succession.

The problem with that is that you never know how long your king will live for. He could die at 40, could die at 80. You may have to give away all your titles and live for another 20 years. But, I agree, when I'm forced into using gavelkind I often take the same route. That and making my other sons bishops.

So, what Paradox game should I get next? Either Vic 2 or EU3, I can't quite decide...

EDIT: Or I might save up and buy EU4 when it comes out.

Vicky 2 is my vote. With the "short" 100 years to work with, there's a lot more in-depth content, historical goodness to work with.
