I've also abandoned Thunderball half-way through and read two other books.

What happened? I hear everyone (except Rachel, of course) dies. :eyebrow:

Actually Rachel died in the first ten pages, after taking down half the rogue Yeerks on the Blade ship, including Tom. The good guys won, the Andalites came about ten seconds from burning Earth to a crisp, Visser Three (Visser One at that point) was thrown in prison for the rest of his life. Cut to a couple years later, Ax goes missing, Jake and the others (excluding Cassie) steal an experimental Z-Space ship and go off to search for him. Eventually, they find the Blade Ship, which has Ax on board taken over by some alien thing. Jake gives orders to ram the Blade Ship and kill everyone. The book ends just before they die.

Any time now, Lyra. Any time. Watch your car keys.

And your bedroom door. Chances are, he'll rape you first, the Genocidal Bastard.

Well, it was a "heroic sacrifice" thing, but yes, they did.

I did.

It was a hard task, as I am illiterate, but I finished it.

Well, I looked at the covers and wondered what they were.

I'm not allowed to wish ill on fictional characters? If you're offended by that, you should see my mother watching Wheel of Fourtune. She says that expecting mothers on the show should loose the game and go home with nothing if they don't guess a correct letter.

Then, even though you knew there was a sequel, or that it was a sequel, or whatever, you never actually got around to playing/reading/watching/etc. it. You abandoned that story, for whatever reason. Alternatively, you were in the middle of enjoying the story, and then suddenly stopped.

What was the name of it?

For me, it was a book series about cities that ate each other, Mortal Engines I think, I never read the last two books.
I never finished the Ender's Shadow series.
I only played Jak II
Never played the last Ratchet and Clank game.
Never finished reading Don Quijote.

That happened to me mid reading The Way of Kings, by Brandon Sanderson. Not sure why, tbh. It just ceased to be engaging, I suppose.

I also stopped playing Final Fantasy after FFXIII. In fact, I never finished FFXIII. Graphically speaking, it was top notch. But the story failed to engage me, the battle system was crap and none of the characters, except the chicobo living atop Sazh's hair, were to my liking.

Animorphs. I guess it's not so much that I "abandoned" it as "I never got around to reading the whole thing by the time I grew out of it."

Well, Twilight. Mostly because I was reading it for a girlfriend and then broke up with her before going beyond the first book and the second movie. Also I stopped playing Command and Conquer because EA doesn't know how to treat singleplayers properly.

I gave up on James Joyce's Ulysses; Kafka's The Trial took several attempts to get through the whole damn thing.

Many games I just never bothered to grind away at defeating the final boss.

I think I've read through all the books I started. Even Harry Turtledove's immensely long Timeline 101/Southern Victory series.
