I prefer to think he realized the ensuing war would destroy humanity's chance of surviving. The Imperium can't stand without the Mars. Just like Mars can't stand without the Imperium.

Of course not. They've already been burned by portions of the Imperium and the empire of Mars turning traitor. They obviously haven't forgotten that just yet.

The Emperor should have wiped them out when he had the chance but he didn't want to besiege Mars.

that would of ended the imperium pretty much

They already make their own Titans. Not sure why Baneblades are particularly more frightening.

The Huskar Social Union wrote:Yeah, bunch of annoying assholes them, how many guard would be saved if they actually started kicking up their production and using the STC's instead of all the religious crap.

Much the same could be said of any Imperial force. "Religious crap" is precisely why they're in the abysmal situation that they're all in the first place.

To be honest, the whole Imperial faith kinda holds them together, and with daemons running around causing havoc it's difficult to deny.

I am reasonably sure the emperor could have defeated them. I mean he had legions of space marines that he created who's to say the the few inventions that The Mechanicus has come up with couldn't have been found out by someone else?

I meant the original 'religious crap', which was the Emperor trying to hide the existence of daemons and chaos gods from the Imperium with the Imperial Truth. Not the current version of it.

Not to mention that the Mechanicus, while much smaller than the Imperium, has all the Titans and most of the super-heavy tank production, massive armies of skitarii infantry and its own fleets. It'd be a grueling, lengthy bloodbath.

Doesn't matter who wins in a war between the Imperium and the Mechanicus. The survivor will be quickly dismantled by the Orks, Tyranids, Eldar, Dark Eldar, Tau, Chaos forces, etc.

Now it would be but I am talking before the Horus Heresy when the Imperium had massive armies and super heavies. Hell even the guard were rolling in style in their land raiders and the main battle tank was the baneblade.

Ah. The context seemed rather unclear.
Plus the whole Imperial Truth thing didn't really stop Horus from going full Chaos.

Ok I have a question that might seem silly, but I know absolutely nothing of the W40K, well a few small things like that they are super soldiers. So what are ultra marines afraid off?

Ultramarines are one of several "chapters" (kind of like a biker gang, lulz) of the Space Marines, the Imperium's super-soldiers. The Space Marines are supposed to be utterly undaunted, not necessarily unafraid, so that they can do the missions that no one else has the backbone for.

So which is the most elite of the elite "chapters"?

Grey Knights in my opinion if you consider them a space marine chapter....they are one of those things where they are but they aren't. If you get my meaning.

Nothing about this mentions hiding the existence of Daemons; I don't think the Imperium had had much contact with them until near the end of the Great Crusade. If nothing else, it was better than the Lectitio Divinitatus that replaced it, because the whole point was to destroy religion and replace superstition with science.

The Grey Knights are definitely one of the best, but there really isn't a most elite. They tend to specialize in certain types of warfare, or in fighting certain enemies, but all of them are about equally effective.
