OK, so I now have the scheme for my loyalist marines, my pre-renegade marines, and my post-renegade marines. Critique?

New Renegade Scheme

I don't know whether it is broken links or a problem at my end but I can only see the Loyalist Marines scheme. I am unsure as to whether I like it or not. Sorta looks like a black suit with glow-in-the-dark lines painted on it ;)

Oh, that. Changed my mind. Originally made the Hecatonchires(The black and pink guys) a forgotten legion that specialized in superheavy vehicles(Why? Rule of stupidly awesome), but I changed them to a successor chapter of the Red Bears(Black and green), who then went renegade and formed the Realm of Grom.

Rouge Trader was back in the days that planets were named after pop stars and although the fluff is very good, it is also rather silly. I think the Fists' reputation and the fact that they have a Primarch with a rocking moustache makes up for their bright yellow and the Emperor's Children, well, they were always the flamboyant type weren't they?

That excuses nothing. Pink looks good on black, and even if it was on the same level of ridiculousness as the IF scheme then they make up for it with JUSTICES. Also, double-track rhinos.

I prefer The Last Church, although that was pretty good.

Why this one?

I love the foreshadowing, tragedy, and honest philosophical quandaries.

You only said you were "unsure" of the black and pink, then you tried to use special pleading for a chapter and a legion that had equally or more ridiculous color schemes.

That, and asking for critique was more along the lines of what part's painted which color, like the CSM; I have to strike a careful balance between "Black Legion expy" and "Clownfest".

so at my local game store i am strating a campaign where it is the 44th millennium and the emperor has finally died. the imperium really doesn't change as the astronomican is still operating (though parts of the imperium are now cut off), the only real change is that small level lords (like chapter masters and governors) are fighting for power in their sector.
what do you guys think of an idea like that?

How do you explain the Astronomican still functioning? As far as I recall, it need the Emperor to focus it.

Apparently you think Chaos has something resembling a coherent goal. Chaos has no goals; it is the embodiment of the emotions of all life. Khorne cares only that the bloods spills, Slaanesh only needs that mortals indulge in their pleasures, Nurgle only wishes to see suffering and destruction, and Tzeentch's schemes are nothing more than loose threads, each and every plan ending a failure for his own sake. The Daemons of Chaos are nothing more than extensions of their patron's will. As for the Chaos marines, or at least the ones who aren't simply pirates, they only care that the Imperium falls, not what comes after it, as they would have nothing to live for since they had long abandoned their souls in exchange for the power to fight the Imperium. The Lost and the Damned are nothing more than mercs, marauders, and menials who could not oppose the Imperium themselves.

Chaos, as per the Kyras Doctrine, is an attempt at nothingness. No meaning, no purpose, no duty. The nature of this void is up to the individual gods - Khorne wants meaningless bloodshed, Tzeench wants meaningless change and transition, Nurgle desires endless decay and renewal which only serves the decay, and Slaanesh wants pointless sensation.

That's the end result.
