But plasma guns and autocannons have served me well thus far.

Possibly change the platoon command squad? My line of thought was heavy bolter for some long-ish range fire support and flamers for anything that got close.

The issue with that is that the squad can be killed by most in a single turn without an armored shell. If you don't mind can you give us an idea of what your usual opponents are?

Yep, you'll be dead by turn 2 with that build.

Standard guardsmen?

I don't think humanity would have changed much. The Astartes and the Mechanicus are probably the only grand exceptions.

But human body height is on an upward trend, viz. compared to the original home erectus we are quite tall, averaging 5' 7". If this continues for another 38,000 years, I'm sure humans will be taller.

So applied to the 40K universe, do you think we'd be able to still continue an upward trend with regards to average human height, or with the dismal living conditions do the exact opposite?

Which adepts? Astartes? Yes. Mechanicus? Depends. Telepathica? No. Astronomicon? Not artificially, but the navigators are described as being taller.

They are the emperors chosen guard, the best of the best, charged with the defense of the one man who, should he die, would plunge the imperium into chaos. They have been known to beat the shit outta terminators unarmed, and are quite possibly made from the Emperors Gene-Seed

In one on one, Custodes are better than Astartes.

In open warfare, though, Astartes are probably better.

Tabletop-wise, I imagine that they would be a poor man's Grey Knights, what with their bolter-halberds instead of force weapon and stormbolter, and lack of psychic powers.
