Also,
I was just a child when the skrebbies fell from the sky. But I remember how they made Team Deathmatch to destroy them, and in turn, how Team Deathmatch brought war upon us. Team Deathmatch was an abstract idea, nothing more than that option on my starting menu. As a child, I only saw it as something that happened on some far away server...
Until the first day of the new update...
One day while bomb-karting my way to MVP, I looked into the blue skies above me.
A distant sound of thunder. In the blue skies far above me, contrails drew dazzling circles around in a lulzy furball. A rektening in the blue skies far away...
I could not tear my gaze away from them. A deafening roar, an then sharp silhouettes appeared as if to graze my wingtips as they streaked by me. The fighters playing a game of "Oh God don't kill me pls" as they climbed into the sky.
One skrebby fell out of the skies, spiralling and spewing failure to crash by the cape.
The same cape, where muh guntower was.
Now muh guntower lives in the memories of sorties past. The victor circled around to confirmed he took muh guntower. And as he flew off into the distance, I could hear a distant whisper in my ear.

At least Schnee 1 was the coolest guy ever, and Gault was gr8st squadron, so there's some pluses to Soldier.

ACZ's missions and combat AI were also far, far better than AC5.

The enemy Ace Squadrons didn't play even close to as large of a role in AC5 as they did in ACZ. Yes, they were central antagonists, but you only actually faced them a small fraction of the amount of times as in ACZ. And while Ofnir and Grabach's AI weren't stupendous, the enemy ace squadron's AI in ACZ weren't revolutionarily better. They could still be beaten by exploiting the same tactics.
Also I don't think it's true across the board that ACZ's missions were more intense and well paced across the board. AC5 had some excellently fleshed out and well paced missions in my opinion. And it had some pretty intense moments. "Journey Home", "Naval Blockade" and "First Flight" come to mind. And yes, there were also the boring, filler missions that exist solely to drive the plot. But it's one hell of a plot.
