[AETEN II]

I now have all my games set with raging barbarians. Makes it harder.

I haven't tried that yet, but in this game, I've encountered at least a dozen of them and half a dozen encampments, mostly down in Chile.

Raging Barbarians makes numerous camps everywhere, Barbarians spawn faster, and found new encampments faster as well. They also make boats more often.

Update: 50 BC. All religions have been founded, none by me. I've now founded five cities. Japan has denounced me, and may well be planning on declaring war, so I'm building up my military. Rome and Ethiopia (the two civs sharing South America) seem to have terrible relations, as Rome asked me to declare war on Ethiopia (I politely declined). Philadelphia, my farthest city to the north, is under constant attack by barbarians, who have just sacked my only gold mine ( ). Suggestions?

EDIT: OK, I'm pretty sure that Oda is preparing to declare war on me. Advice?

Wait for Olda too declare war though, and simply use them as a border guard. Don't want a declaration against you from the world.

Wait for Olda too declare war though, and simply use them as a border guard. Don't want a declaration against you from the world.

Olda, lol. But good advice, you will have a LOT of denouncations and wars if you invade first. But dont hesitate to help Rome. Rome can be a good ally.

I don't have enough gold to buy that many units, if I did then I'd have to use them all to fend off Oda's superior numbers, the barbarians are spread across the continent, I'm allied with Ethiopia, and even if I wanted to invade him there's no land route and I can't embark units yet.

Stick with Revolution. It is the most fun game I have EVER played on my DS, followed closely by Sim City.

Do you have an army now in which to fight off Oda? If so keep them where they are and proceed. If you cant reach Rome, use ships, if you dont have them try and research them quickly.

You COULD just get a land army and blitzkrieg to Rome from land..

There's only one land tile connecting Central and South America and it's a mountain.

Yeah, but if I got gunpowder I could crush Oda so I wouldn't have to worry about him while subjugating Rome... and gunpowder is a Renaissance tech, right, Cuz that would give me a spy I could use to steal the tech from him.

Good point. Go for defense against Oda first, then immediatly research embarkation and set to destroying Rome!

Yeah, I have, although he doesn't really have any enemies besides me. I think he's been more focused on building an army than a navy, since I control pretty much the only quick route between the Atlantic and the Pacific, and my coastal cities are mostly on the Atlantic. At this point, politics are pretty much limited to starting continents.

You could always travel around and see if anyone would agree to beating the ever-loving-shit out of him with you. Also, I advise that you focus on pillaging his stuff if you have a small army. It'll slow him down and NPC's are normally when it comes to repairing tiles. Then use the gold to build whatever artilery you can get. Although I'd recommend on waiting and getting cannons. It's best to leave units at the border, especially archers, then get musketmen and cannons.

Also, you should have gone with Napoleon. I can't stress this enough. He replaces Musketmen with musketeers and rifleman with the foreign legion. Really, really useful. Washington's only good in the late game because of the B17's. But you can just go with nukes instead.

Yeah, but then you just get mehish after that. Napoleon is great for me, because I typically declare major war when I get musketeers and continue all the way to 2050. I haven't played my game for a while, but I've stamped out Russia, crushed three city states, made peace and effectively annexed two (I've paid them off so I've got 2000 influence, and I have the culture tree to ensure it decreases at a minimal rate), destroyed the Mongols, and will soon march on the remnants of Arabia (I reduced them to two cities at the minimal size, landlocked. I might not even attack him because they're more like cute pets.). Then I'll probably attack Alexander, because he's a douchebag kid and I fucking hate his face and he's denounced me a hilarious amount of times. Luckily, I've got America and the Aztecs as allies and we've formed a Triple Entree. They're in Asia though, and I now have virtually complete control over North America, and all of South America.
