Rome was my friend for most of the game, and magically decided to denounce me and declare war against my, and its former, ally America. I keep needing to bailout the US, who are the only civ allied with me (Rome hates me and Attila doesn't care about me). It's like realpolitik gone bad...

On another note --

Playing a game with my multiplayer group, recently, I just came to realize how powerful a certain bonus in the WC/UN is.

By the time industrialization swung around, I possessed almost all of the wonders. Passing Cultural Heritage Site seemed like it'd be a small boost to that.

I was up to about +414 culture a turn.

Meaning I could fill out all of my policies like it was nothing.

Crazy powerful for someone with a tall strategy.

So, just made it to the industrial era for the first time in any Civ V game I've played...I got little Indiana Joneses running around snatching up finds and I am also preparing to destroy my happiness by mass-colonizing the 'new world' which I don't think but only several other Civs know about (and even if they do, I am figuring their economies/resources cannot sustain the economic and happiness strain).

I was recently attacked by both Attila and Genghis(both of them former allies) as Rome. That's what I get for trying to play at Prince difficulty.

That's how my early games always go. Focus on building, at the expense of my military, then get attacked by two players simultaneously. Use the funds I've built up (since, ya know, less upkeep) to rapidly train an enormous military, smash the invaders, then spend the rest of the game as a powerhouse in everything.

Once, although it was technically an archipelago map. There was this one time where the only other civs were stuck on a peninsula, though. I remember telling you guys about that one. I was Germany, the other two on the continent (after I wiped out the Huns and Egyptians) were Rome and Byzantium, and the only reason they hadn't wiped each other out was because there was a mountain chain separating the two of them. Made it a lot harder taking Byzantium.

Well, I enjoyed some peaceful isolation for a good part of the game and when I got muskets and frigates I decided to try and take over the world. First civ I met was a war-torn Rome (Down to 3 cities) so I quickly conquered them and I am planning on making a move on the Germans from there.

Drew up plans yesterday for a North Pole Civilization because it somehow came up in a Steam Chat so yeah.

Leader: Saint Nicholas
Unique Ability: CHRISTMAS SPIRIT - All gifts to City-States provide 25% Extra Influence and Religious Pressure. Great Works from other Civilizations provide +2 Tourism.
Unique Building: Santa's Workshop - Replaces Workshop. +2 Production, +15% in this City, +1 Tourism Output.
Unique Unit: Sleigh Soldier - Replaces Cavalry. May paradrop up to 3 tiles from friendly territory. -1 Movement.

So yeah, now to learn how to mod

. It'd be great to make a Nationstates Civilization Pack.

I warmongered the hell out of my neighbors until the World Congress hit me with crippling sanctions. But once I started to drop bombs on certain countries .. *cough* Ghandi *cough* Catherine. Things were settled.
