Difficulty level is King on a huge Terra map with Marathon speed.

I tried playing marathon speed, couldn't wait long enough for the scientific victory. Now I'm only doing epic speed max.

Gah. I wish that I could use the Earth map on Civ IV and put the nations wherever I want. I want to be the Ottomans, but the scenario doesn't let me. :|

Anyway, Civ IV is great. Finished more than half the scenarios. c:

I remember trying them two years ago. I couldn't finish any of them. They were just too hard.
Now, I'm a lot better. But my problem is that I continuously play games until they get boring. I don't like Civ IV anymore, but It'll come back in a few months for me to get it back to the boring level in a few days.

Doing the same thing to Stronghold right now.

I love watching a game where Rome, Egypt, and the Iroquios are all next to each other. Mostly because they get so caught up trying to devour each other that they can't devour everything else on the map.

So, certain nations hate each other much?

Rome, Egypt, and the Iroquios hate everything. Unlike other anti-everyone nations, like Mongolia or the Aztecs, they usually can win their wars and expand. But if they are next to each other, no one really makes any progress so they can't blob up the map.

That is so not Mongolia and so not the Iroquois.

Is the rest of the game realistic, or is it like those two?

I remember a game where Atomic Era Greece was fighting a centuries-long war with the Modern Huns, and in a Cold War with also Atomic Celts. In between all three of them was me, Industrial Japan, with only a few cities and almost no resources. Earlier in the game, I fought off three pairs of simultaneous invasions, two by the Celts and Aztecs and one by the Huns and Greeks. I actually lost my capital to the Celts for a while, but managed to retake it.

And then, out of the blue, the Celts pop up, offer friendship (which I eagerly accept) and make a flippin' defensive pact with me. Sure, I was nothing more than a buffer state to make it a bit harder if the Greeks or Huns made a move, but when the most technologically advanced weapon I have is the musket, there's no fucking way I'm going to turn down protection from a nuclear superpower.

We seriously need to do a multiplayer game sometime, guys.

I'm in for the multiplayer. Probably will get the actual game in October. :p

Not usually. That was the only time I've ever lost my capital, and the only time I've been significantly out-teched. It probably would've been the first time I lost, too, but we had to wipe my computer before I could finish the game. :(

Well, about that multiplayer game..... hehe...... I'm gonna die by 1000 AD.

In retrospect, it was a very bad idea playing on the Great Plains map with sparse resources and the most warlike civs I could think of.

Civ V, right?
What other scenarios/maps does it have?

10 scenarios, most or all are either DLC or part of an expansion. Maps... a hell of a lot.

Agreed. I've played many games on higher difficulty, and they always just try to steamroll right over me early in the game. I'll have a three pact alliance immediately before anyone even hits renaissance trying to invade my borders.
