Just finished Severance on Apple TV+

It's a little slow to get going, but the concept is a mindfuck and it builds up tension super well to the end of the season. The last episode is one of the best episodes of TV I've watched in years. Can't wait for Season 2 already.

FFO: near-future tech-dystopian shows like Black Mirror

Midnight Mass. A mini-series and damn it was good. Probably the best horror for the year.

We binge-watched "From" TV Show on Epix (US).. 1st season 10 episodes for the last 3 days.

It appears to be a Neo-Jungian Horror (more mythic fantasy so far than sci-fi). Influences by Lost and Fringe and a contemporary French horror whose name escapes me are evident. "From" is surprisingly entrancing. It would make a fine RPG (both traditional and computer). It is reminiscent of mixes from various Twilight Zone, Outer Limits, Rod Starling's Night Gallery episodes.

The up side is that the story is a great hook, and one can easily overlook the low budget. The setting is chilling and intriguing. The characters tend to be narcissistic, petty, deeply flawed and deliberately unlikable, so we were rooting for the least likable characters to not die the quickest. There is a lot of room for character development, and a lot of questions to be answered.

Down side is that there are spots of poor acting. The scriptwriters while mostly able to tell a good story, seem to only have a rudimentary understanding of group dynamics within self-governing societies under duress, unless they expect all the characters to get killed (which is possible). Some of the actions seemed less plausible but still within an acceptable suspension of disbelief. considering. That being said, are they ants in a bottle, brains in a canister sharing the same consciousness, connected souls on a accidental journey, or cattle in a feedlot, or a mix?

The theme song was a creepy version of Que Sera Sera which seems fitting.

Lot of content in the last three days or so: Everything Everywhere All At Once is probably the best or at least top five movies I remember seeing in my life; Russian Doll Season 2 seemed like it had so much potential to be super interesting but had minimal payoff and left me disappointed but still wanting another season; forgot how incredible Ozark Season 2 is and how much Laura Linney’s portrayal of Wendy has grown since then

Stargirl! I'm currently watching it on HBO Max, it's a DC show. It isn't the best show out there, but it is a fun watch.

«C'est comme ça que je t'aime». A Canadian French comedy-drama-crime series. A clique of married couples living in 1970s affluent suburbia. First came the cheating, then the shooting and finally it became a free-for-all that resulted in this unassuming group becoming gangland bosses.

“Schitts Creek”. A Canadian English situational comedy series. A rich family got swindled of their fortune after a corrupt business manager pocketed money meant to pay for taxes. Now the family has to move into a town bought for a joke and adjust to small town life.

Ozark S4 finale kinda whiffed ngl. New season of Barry has been great so far though, although already more genuinely disturbing I think even compared to its usual baseline, makes me kind of scared of Bill Hader

Midnight Mass is one of the best horror shows put out in a long time. It takes some *very* cliche ideas, and yet found a remarkably fresh take on the subject. Its ending is absolutely amazing. Flannigan is really good at making old ideas feel new and unique.

Also, third season of Love Death + Robots is out, and I binged it hard. Honestly just as good as the first season, and I can't think of a single miss in the season. Jibaro in particular, however, was absolutely phenomenal as a short story told through visuals and sound only. Its rare for a short story to be able to let you know everything you need to know about the world, the characters, and their motivations without a single line of dialogue or text, however Jibaro really swing for the fences and was memlsmerizong.

I was cool on the second season, and frankly none of the episodes were particularly stand out or overly memorable like with the first. This season, however, had the feeling that every episode had a lot going for them.

I’ve been watching season 1 of Married with Children. The tone of the show then was different compared to latter seasons. Al & Peggy’s relationship wasn’t as toxic
