So, Twilight Sparkle in the old-new episode just doesn't feel right, y'know? Just feels a bit off to me...

Like her focus on tests being the be-all and end-all of her life (see Lesson Zero, written by the same writer as this episode), which wasn't the case before (S1 Premiere). Similarly, her apparent biblophilia has only recently emerged - see S1 Premiere, S2 Premiere, S2 Finale, every other episode. Now, of course, it's all "OMIGOSH A LIBRARY LET'S GO THERE NOW!"

Pinkie Pie is similarly off, but she never was 'on' anyway. Rainbow Crash... brash as always, but not so much prideful. A bit of character development rather than flanderisation.

Fluttershy...Well, can't ever say I dislike Fluttershy. Rarity was a greedy, selfish, prideful pony again...so dead on, well written. And Applejack, forgettable as always.
