Of course, if you had paid attention to "Cryptum", you'd know that the Forerunners are able to transfer the consciousnesses of beings into machines. We found out that that was how 343 GS was created. Chakas, wasn't it?

The Didact had done the same thing with his children, except that he put them into War Sphinxes.

Of course not. 343 survived for eras upon eras until NEVER going insane when the Chief showed up. He simply operated by a different set of moral values/programming protocols.

But Guilty Spark was insane, he was more Rampant than Cortana.

Also, one of my friends recently tried to convince me that Cortana was made by the forerunners. I laughed him out of the party.

Sorry man, but the Prometheans are defense AIs not Forerunners. The Forerunners left behind their tech during their war against the Flood. According to the book, some of the Forerunners manage to escape the firing of Halos, they went into the shield worlds & left the galaxy when the firing ceased.

In the Greg Bear books, the Prometheans ARE Forerunners. I believe that the book was made canon by the Halo wizards as well. Therefore, the Prometheans (in-game) might either be actual Forerunners (unlikely) or, as you say, they're defense AIs. But why can they not be both? During the Forerunner era, there was a caste of people called the "Warrior-Servants", the topmost of which were given the title of "Promethean". Now that the Forerunner Era has passed, why can't their creations be known by the same name?

Promethean refers to the soldiers of the Ecumene. Whereas Prometheans generally refer to actual living forerunners, Knights, Crawlers and Watchers are robots.

Technically, Promethean refers to the top rank of the Warrior Servant caste (the final mutation). It's a rank.

Online multiplayer and all of the new features for it are all well and good, but I'm primarily in it for the story. It's set in a wonderful universe, filled with fantastical creatures, intricate technology, and fascinating lore. The story behind Halo is the reason I got so involved in it to begin with.

Not saying I don't like the story or anything, but I also like playing the multiplayer, and since it seems like war games is closer to the canon more than ever it completes me.

I am still trying to get Mr. Hunter to get that Falcon to the Spire in time, I treat them the same because I always make my own stories when playing, I just never mention it.

That it is. The "War Games" idea takes place on the Infinity, which is home to the new groups of Spartan IVs, which are drawn from the regular military instead of being trained from six years of age. I can't wait to see if we get to work with Spartan IVs in the Campaign.

is that why they have army, marines odsts and shit for spartans now?

because they have a "soldier" variant for the armor that looks like a spartan configuration for UNSC army soldiers.

You might be surprised at how close we are to doing just that. Minus the energy shields, that is.

EDIT: Also, I was correct in my earlier speculation. WARNING: HEAVY SPOILERS.

That it is. The "War Games" idea takes place on the Infinity, which is home to the new groups of Spartan IVs, which are drawn from the regular military instead of being trained from six years of age. I can't wait to see if we get to work with Spartan IVs in the Campaign.

I still don't know why they did this. It limited their options for MP, and MP doesn't need a story. TF2 made one simply for shits and giggles.

Excuse me, sir. Seeing as how the V.P. is such a V.I.P., shouldn't we keep the P.C. on the Q.T.? 'Cause if it leaks to the V.C. he could end up M.I.A., and then we'd all be put out in K.P.

Perhaps because it makes old campaigners like me more interested in the multiplayer?

Perhaps they took the idea from RvB, who gave the multiplayer a story itself?

Maybe it was simply for "shits and giggles"?

It doesn't matter much to me; it just makes the multiplayer look all the more appetizing.
